    With the all-new CLA-Class getting ready to stake its claim as the entry-level Mercedes-Benz sedan, the next-generation C-Class will have a little room to expand its lineup and move up market. And nothing says up market more than the S-Class. Comparing these new spy shots of the 2014 C-Class to recent shots of the next-gen S-Class, we can see that newest version of Mercedes' top-selling model (in the US) will have styling that borrows heavily from the automaker's redesigned flagship.

    There is far less camouflage covering the new sedan than the last time we saw it, allowing us to see how the car is shaping up. Up front, we can expect the familiar grille and headlight treatment we've seen on other recent Mercedes introductions, and it also looks like it will also get an aggressively styled front fascia similar to what we saw on the new E-Class models. The rear end will get vertical taillights and integrated exhaust finishers.

    This is nothing new. The C has had a strong resemblance to the S for several generations now (while the E usually has somewhat different styling). That hasn't always worked well -- some elements sometimes don't work well on the smaller car. The current gen, however, has made this work quite well for both. Hopefully that will hold for the next one as well.

    I actually feel that the current car is somewhat under-rated. Anyhow, a more interesting interior should be on the menu, and I'd say Benz's turbo-4 as well for the ATS 2.0T and 328i. They may as well downsize their V-6 to a sub-3.0L displacement and turbo it to move way up in power yet maintain economy.

    I do think that the Mercedes C class is a better car then the BMW 3 series.

    I have not had enough legroom in all the previous Cs but can easily fit into a 3 series.

    Oy! A 4 door sedan covered in matte black padding is "Dapper"? There's positively nothing that can be seen under all that.

    I hope GM has some tweaks for ATS in 2014. Especially in Engines and performance times.

    I really like the roofline and greenhouse of this camo'd car.

    I also like the long hood and distance between the leading edge of the door and the front wheel opening. Classically proportioned.
    My guess is the trunk will be small due to those proportions.

    There is V version in works.. So ATS with new engine will come (3.6 l V6 TT or gen V v8)

    The ATS doesn't is pretty well set up in terms of engines IMO. The base 2.5L should really have been the 1.6T IMO, but other than that and my wish that all three engines would offer a stick I can't complain much. The ATS-V will be available for folks who want to pay (and play) more.

    I would say a Cadillac specific version of the High-Feature V-6 should be offered, though. Instead of the full 3.6 liters, a 2.5L with a turbo could supply a lot more power without majorly dinging fuel economy and without continuously increasingly displacement.

    Mercedes is taking the C way more seriously than ever before. With a lot of people buying smaller cars and young buyers looking at their first Mercedes they want to be able to lock in the young buyers yet still have something for the seasoned buyer in a smaller package.

    You will be able to get a turbo 4 and go all the way up to a naturally aspirated 507hp V8, yes naturally aspirated. I'm glad to see that Mercedes is keeping a V8 available, even if it's for a low volume model.

    I agree. It's just a basic Mercedes with no significant upgrades available.

    That being said, I've already noted that Mercedes seems to be iterating the C very quickly. A 2014 C-Class is due in months. And it was just updated not too long ago to revise and upgrade the crappy interior.

    So we'll see what Mercedes has "learned" from evaluating the competition sooner rather than later. If anything.
