Porsche’s upcoming 960 supercar is beginning to come into focus, with a new report shedding light on a number of intriguing details of the new addition to Stuttgart’s lineup.

The 960 is set to use a mid-mounted, quad-turbocharged boxer eight that should give it the muscle to match up with twelve-cylinder exotics like the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and the Lamborghini Aventador, according to an Automobile report. Displacing 3.9 liters and producing an estimated 650 horsepower, the mill will team with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and an all-wheel-drive system for a package reportedly capable of a 2.5-second zero-to-60 mph sprint.

Never been a Porsche fan. Delivering Corvette levels of performance at 2 to 3 times the cost. I know they've always been more refined, but the cost isn't justified. But people pay - so I do respect that.

I really like the cayenne, it drives great. I am okay with Porsche's base prices but the option prices are so absurd. it's as if they pulled the $ amount out of their a$$. I realize they are a small manufacturer but the $ asked have no basis in reality. Kind of like the $15-20K ferrari charges for their upgraded paint.

They make so much money off all those ugly Cayennes and Panameras they can afford all sorts of image builders like this. Indeed, they understand their game well: Cayennes sell because of the Porsche image. Maintaining that image in the face of the sedan and SUV flood out of their factory requires ever more strenuous efforts. Hence the 960.
