Ummm....
Just a bigger and fatter X3.

I know I'm in the extreme minority... but I miss Bangle's designs already. First the 3... now the X5.

Have to join you there. On the basis of that pic, it is very awkward, looks too short and high, like an overgrown Mini almost. And out of the current 3, 5, and 7, I always thought the 3 was the least attractive design by far.

The minority grows; I'll join you. While I don't think the more recent designs are awful, they certainly don't have the flair of complete Bangle designs.

I used to love the 3-series, and I still like it, but the new coupe is almost... bland, particularly from the hind quarters. Apparently consumers don't agree with me, though, as sales are about 60,000(!) units in about half a year.

BMW is going back to what they are best at.....GREAT CARS with the "Same sausage different lengths" looks. A Beamer is not about looks, It's all about Driving.

So they should be bland so engineers can focus on driving characteristics? I think luxury consumers deserve great design and great driving characteristics.

Re: No disguise: 2007 BMW X5 caught during photo shoot

I think BMW's designs are distinctive, though not my cup of tea. But the one thing I really don't understand is the strange, organic shape of the headlamps on several models, including this new X5 or the taillamps on the new 3-series. They don't follow any other lines on the car and, as a result, look unnatural to me. In general, the new generation of BMW's have too many jarring slashes, lines, surfaces and contours inside and out. Again, just not my cup of tea.
