The GT-R isn't the first vehicle to use a transaxle, and neither was the corvette.

The whole back end looks like an ugly rip off of a corvette.

Silly Japanese. I don't see why they even try to make a good looking car.

They have........they just have the tendency to drop them like a dead fish. *(IMO, Nissan reached a peak with the 300ZX....the classiest Japanese GT I've seen)

The Skyline has always had round taillights throughout its history... even way back in the late 50's/early 60's. It's pretty much a coincidence that both cars have a similar taillight theme and evolved to be competitors in this latest generation.

Nissan put lipstick on a pig. That car is damn ugly. The vents on the front fender don't match the body lines at all. The blast plastic all of the place is tacky. The C-pillar is a disaster.

It'll haul ass, I'm sure. But it's still ugly.

Well, that pretty much shows what they'd have to do to the Corvette to make it AWD. The GT-R has two driveshafts running parallel to each other. One carrying power to the back of the car, and another carrying power back up to the front of the car. That and all of the turbo goop contribute to its somewhat porky weight.

The back end looks more like a Cobalt Coupe to me.

Re: Nissan GT-R borrows a tradition from the Corvette....

Why is Japan hellbent on making sports cars that will never see another generation and are too expensive? They should have aimed this car at the Camaro er hell, even Base Vette. Why does it have to be balls-to-the-wall or nothing?

Nissan has had in the past three sports cars: Silvia, Z, and GTR. Right now, they only have the Z and GTR. There are rumors of the Silvia coming back in a couple years. So basically they have their ultimate performance car in the GTR and basic performance car in the Z.

But the Z doesnt really compete with anything..I know its a true performer, Ive driven several and was impressed. My beef is that they cant make one model have several trims (see base Vette, Z06, and ZR1)..rather, they throw out an expensive model here and there that never comes close to competing with sales of other cars because they have a "take it or leave" it attitude. Why couldnt the GT-R come in a upper 30's/low 40s variation like the Vette does??

Only with more soy. Its like they had 48 designers contribute equally to the rear end, and this is what the homogenized result was.
