New Mitsubishi Grand Lancer Bows In Taiwan With Fresh Design

New Mitsubishi Grand Lancer Bows In Taiwan With Fresh Design

The new Mitsubishi Grand Lancer has been officially revealed shortly after images of it leaked online.

Set to be sold in China and other select Asian markets like Taiwan and Malaysia, the Grand Lancer retains a characteristic Lancer design, but is immediately identifiable from the final Lancer models being produced and sold internationally.

The front of the Grand Lancer incorporates the company's distinctive Dynamic Shield look with chrome stretching across and around the front grille. Additionally, the five-door sedan has a particularly eyebrow-raising side profile due to the presence of two bold character lines running from the front wheel arch to the rear wheel.

Mitsubishi's refreshed design is also notable at the rear thanks to a set of uniquely-shaped taillights, reverse lights and even a single rear rain/fog light. There's also a set of silver and black 18-inch wheels.

As far as refreshes of an old product, this isn't half bad. Not the greatest design, but should keep some additional metal moving off lots in Asia.

I like that old designs live on in other markets. The thought of engineering only lasting as long as the first market run is ridiculous. A lot of ten year old cars are still decent products.

Shame the Lancer didn't get a proper revision. My daughter's Ralliart is an awesome little car (except for its thirst). Unfortunately the lesser models were pretty pedestrian. I quite like what they have done with the design here.

The current model for sale in Australia is pretty much the same as the one released around the same time as the VE Commodore except for a mild nosejob. It has been well and truly passed in sophistication by pretty much everything.

I think Mitsubishi deserves better respect. The new fronts are awesome. Say its outlander , outlander sport or this lancer , the front looks good.
If the rear of this lancer get some Malibu or Civic styling, It would have been awesome.

I think under new MGMT under Nissan, The next gen products may be awesome.

Total Honda influence in both front and rear.
What is happening to the GM that grew up with for these many decades? If I could I would institute a hostile take over and kick the entire board and executives out and fill the positions with creative minds under the age of 35.

Uvikrama, no offense, but .... sorry I just can't. That front end on the Outlander is too much of a mish mash of elements. It's hard to even understand what's going on there. The tail light design is used on any number of vehicles and quite derivative.

And Nissan has been off the rails with it's designs for several years.

This Grand Lancer looks pretty good, but my page cut off 3/4ths of the front end of the first shot. Hard to say what it looks like.

It looks like a refresh of an older Ford Focus

Lexus Predator, Toyota black plastic and Acura brushed silver. With a touch of old Focus like jzchev28 said.

I find the Outlander to be good for reasons other than aesthetics. It's the ideal size for young families that don't do rough stuff. The handling is text book safe and benign (though completely unsporting). They are affordable save family transport. There is appropriate space in the market for them.
