New Miata Peeks Out, Sort of

New Miata Peeks Out, Sort of

The first official pictures of the new Mazda Miata have been released. But enthusiasts will have to wait until March's Geneva motor show to see the Miata minus its disguise. Mazda distributed this picture of the upcoming Miata to ward off the press for another couple of weeks until the Geneva show opens to the media on March 1. The shot doesn't show much, but spies have suggested the new car is marginally longer than the old Miata and could offer a rotary engine as an option, along with its standard four-cylinder engine.

Same old story, I think the miata reign is coming to an end with Solstice knoking at the door.

Hopefully Cadillac will offer a Kappa with V6, softer lines and a V8 V series, and a hard top convertible, Price starts $35,000.00,

Instructions for Pontiac, and Saturn, They need a high Revving 7,500 RPM Ecotec for Red Line application, and GPX, or is it GTP application to go up aganist S2000
Not the same mill mill in the Chevy Cobalt SS

Miata OWNS this category.

Do you have any reason to believe that the Solstice will be any closer to the Miata than the LaCrosse is to its target Lexus?

I'll wait until I see confirmed pictures of an uncovered Miata until I decide whether it reigns or doesn't in this category.

As usual, I'll wait for the sales figures to answer the reign question.

looks like its design is right in line with the rx-8 and the speed version of mazda6. Not my favirotes, of the mazdas I like the Mazda3 the best.

Based on the number of dealerships for Pontiac and Miata, it should be a lot easier for Pontiac to sell Solstices. Miata has owned this class, but it also has had much competition. As tgag stated, we will have to wait until sales figures come out to see what happens.

Miata's day in the sun are numbered. Its one thing to compare the LaCrosse to the ES300, but its another to compare the Solstice to teh Miata, and then Sky and Miata. Both Kappa twins should take care of any pesky Miata.

Until the sky, solstice, and miata are on the market comments like that BigAls have no meaning. Thats is unless you've become Nostradamus as of lately. This wouldnt be the first time I've seen GM fans get hyped about something only to see it do marginally well.

Well, I think the fact that there are already people on waiting lists for the Solstice gives a promising look to how well the car will do in sales.

Yeah - if you told me the Aura was going to kill the Accord, I'd be skeptical - Putting a concept up against a long time winner.

This is much different. We have seen production versions. I showed my wife pictures of the Sky and Solstice and her jaw dropped - and she isn't into cars. We know the powertrain will be great - its not a concept either - and we can drive the future upgrade powertrain right now. These vehicles will sell out in months.

This car is not going to be on the throne in the summer. All hail the king, Pontiac Solstice!!

Re: New Miata Peeks Out, Sort of

While looks ARE important in this class, the Miata gained a following for being a great handling car. My main concern with the Sky and Solstice was that they were designed with the PREVIOUS generation Miata as a performance target.
