NASCAR-inspired ROUSH 500RC F-150 released

Today ROUSH Performance released a new pickup that's inspired by the company's participation in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the 500RC. It packs a supercharged (or ROUSHcharged) version of Ford's 5.4-liter V8 producing 445 horsepower and 500 ft-lbs. of torque. That's a pretty big bump over the stock motor's 300 horsepower and 365 ft-lbs. of torque, especially considering the engine and the entire truck is covered under a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty from ROUSH.

Rounding out the rest of the package is a dual rear-exit high-performance exhaust, 20-inch chrome wheels and a billet aluminum grille. So no one confuses your 500RC with a normal F-150, ROUSH also includes fender and tailgate badges, a top- and side-stripe kit, and a serial number badge in the glove box.

The 500RC features the same engine upgrades as the Stage 3 F-150, but appears to be aimed at the buyer who cares to be a bit more discreet. And at $11,995 plus the cost of a donor truck, the 500RC is significantly cheaper than the $15,860 Stage 3 package.

Re: NASCAR-inspired ROUSH 500RC F-150 released

I've never been much for performance trucks, but it's smart of Roush to try something like this since the demise of the Lightning. Understandably, there's not enough market to justify Ford making the Lightning anymore, but there are probably enough people who want one to justify a specialty builder producing one.

If this is subtle, I'd hate to see what they consider bold.

IMO it looks a bit tacky, if they were to lower it a couple inches, ditch all the stripes, and use better looking wheels, they would have something.

Re: NASCAR-inspired ROUSH 500RC F-150 released

It looks OK, but it LOOKS like a modded production truck, not a finished production product.

I hate to say it, but 20 inch wheels these days aren't anything special on a truck of that size. It could go with some 22" wheels, definitly wider tires, and lowered a bit. That would make it look 100% better in my opinion.

Man...that is horrid for that price.

Ditch the Mustang looking graphics-get a monochromatic paint scheme including side mirrors and door handles.

Get wider tires, bigger and better rims. Drop the ride at least 2 inches...this is suppose to be inspired by the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series? Then act like it!

I'd rather see GM ink a deal with Chip Foose. GM can do it with the new Silverado's. Something like a limited edition Chip Foose SS.

I'll even take a Jesse James Silverado SS.
