The Fiat Group and Mazda Motor Corp. have finalized an agreement to co-develop a pair of compact two-seat roadsters that will go on sale in the United States in 2015.

The cars will be the fourth-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata and a modern interpretation of the classic Alfa Romeo Spider. The cars will share a common rear-wheel-drive platform, key chassis components and electric architecture.

In my opinion Kappa should have never left just moved over to Chevy some how, or maybe even evolved into a Cadillac to compete against the SLK.

Have always been a fan of the miata/mx-5, will be interested to see what it looks like. It just needs a modest power bump and standard 6-speed stick, without gaining weight.

the CODE based Alpha LITE being talked up IMHO would make a better NEXT GEN KAPPA in roadster AND 2 seat COUPE thus removing the Camaro equation

this FIAT/MAZDA deal specifically leaves out Chrysler if I recall so a Prowler REDUX is out

I never thought the Prowler was successful enough to warrant a second go.

The Prowler was a Success, it was Low Volume and all were sold. Just like Vipers were. Just the Handling performance was questionable, No ABS, 4 sp, and no V8 option (which would had make the handling thousands times worst). it wasnt like the V6 was slow. had more power than your stock 32 Ford

It sounds good. I wonder if Fiat will allow this to trickle over to Chrysler a la the Demon roadster concept, we saw on the auto show circuit.

You can have Kappa back, and with a LS3, just not from GM as the man says. The price of entry is only €100,000, but you better hurry, only 30 are to be built.

As a former Miata owner, this is interesting.
Too bad they're changing the engine. They should just change the engine cover.
As little Italian as possible, please... just the styling would be great.
Leave everything else alone.

Both cars will be styled differently and will have thier own Engines. Theres nothing "Elegant" or "Performance oriented" about Miatas like true Alfas are.

Hey, if Mazda builds it then we'll see an Alfa that actually doesn't break down five minutes after you drive it off the lot. I'd even consider an Alfa if it weren't built by the Italians!
