Re: Mazda CX-9 named Motor Trend S/U of the Year
I'm sorry but if I'm looking for a CUV, "sports car handling" is not at the top of my list. Room, interior comfort, mpg and ruggedness is at the top of my list. If I want a sports car, I'll buy a sports car. The MT reviewers are obviously reviewers used to, and prefering to review, the BMW 3 and 5 Series, Porsche and the more expensive production cars of the planet.
This review is totally subjective. True, they back it up with numbers relating to the CX-9's performance. But "performance" is only one small attribute of what a CUV consumer is looking for. As one young engineer I work with says, "But don't you read reviews?" No, I'm my own reviewer.

Hm. Thats... interesting. I could have thought of a better truck to have won this award. I was slightly more disapointed last year though. Mercedes GL450? Ugh.

It's too late to hunt it down, but this story is days old and so is probably a repost.
There will be too sides: 1. "I really like the CX-9 because..." 2. "Handling shouldn't matter all that much in large crossovers. So the Lambdas with their roomier third row ought to have won."
