10 years ago Cadillac sold some 200K cars with the then-new CTS selling as fast as they could be made. When was the last time they could only move 80K in a year like LIncoln today?

And Cadillac fleet sales were never as extreme as Lincolns. 10 years ago 75% of all Town Cars were rental/Livery sales. The Deville was never that unpopular at retail.

Really? I thought I saw a nice jump in January.

Weel, regardless, I still congratulate Ford on a job well done.

Sadly were one to go back an additional 5 years Lincoln was in a battle for the luxury title in the US. I saw the writing on the wall many years ago when Lincoln was unceremoniously excommunicated from PAG under the tutelage of Nasser.

Whilst his language is a bit abrasive in this case Cadillac does today easily shade Lincoln in almost every way.

I think MKZ sales will surprise a lot of people. I fully expect them to sell atleast 30000 a year..

I am worried about the ATS....

So being up 70% is not gaining traction? Mind you that with one plant compared to Accord and Camry that have multiple.

In your opinion does the phrase in relation to hold no merit?

Wait until "buyers" find out the reason for the delay on their cars ...

That would be about what the first gen did on average, isn't it?

I wouldn't be...............quite yet. It is still very new and in a market segment new to Cadillac.

Well yes, but at a much better ATP against a much better competition and strengthening the brand image . If it does that it will bring in a nice chunk of profits for Ford.

Well it is replacing the original 2002 CTS price slot.. so it needs to duplicate its sales performance. If it does not it could mean it is too small for Caddy customers taste..

Cadillac was selling a lot of cars in 2003 thanks to the CTS, Escalade, and Deville.

Re: Lincoln to pay dealers for MKZ delays

Among middle aged or older luxury car buyers, who besides a die hard Ford loyalist who got off on Continentals and Town cars would throw down a serious chunk of change on a Lincoln? Even as far as Cadillac has come, it is only recently that it has earned its way to the very fringes of serious consideration as a semi-legitimate alternative to the marques of luxury such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, even Lexus. Really need to be a USA homer to put a Caddy in the driveway of an upscale neighborhood surrounded by Germanic and Asian offerings.

Even Cadillac has admitted they have miles to go before it is perceived as a mainstream legitimate luxury car, no matter how good the product.

So where does that leave Lincoln? Maybe well-off younger people who have a counter culture mentality or have no historical perspective regarding the heritage of true luxury offerings will be mesmerized by slick ads and flashy styling but those who really cherish the finer things of life would laugh themselves silly if someone would suggest they trade their Mercedes for a Lincoln. And if you are in the market for a PERFORMANCE luxury sedan....well.....

IDK why people are still suggesting Lincoln is after another brand, but they themselves have said they're not. They are simply trying to find (or create) a market, not penetrate an existing one.

Fusion was 4th on the list, there are more below it than above...if you get my meaning

Lincoln is going overboard with final inspections and the delays are costing MKZ golden weeks to impress
new buyers but no doubt the wait is worth it to get the product right, production in January rose above
1600 so all of those are passing through final QA in Flat Rock Inspection Point on their way to dealerships.
Some early builds were inspected at Hermosillo and went to USA dealerships but the task overwhelmed
them, final QA was shifted FRAP to clear the back log.

Why do you come into every non-GM thread and whine like a spoiled child? Your posts in the last few Chrysler threads reeked of your own insecurity.

Ford has a plant that is running at full capacity and the cars are already ear marked. Wow, what a problem to have! Must be the result of real horrendous management.
