I am actually starting to wonder whether it wouldn't make sense for Chrysler to bring back the AMC Eagle to gain some much needed steam... any thoughts on brand/model name/what components/chassis/body to use?

I like the idea! Basically a tougher, American Subaru. Sort of the 'softer side' of Jeep. Actually yeah... they could use the Eagle name... offer three or four models... and pair Jeep and Eagle dealerships... lighter-use offroad stuff like the Compass (it'd have to look better) and a sedan, coupe, and wagon could fly under the Eagle banner, leaving the real Jeep hardware untainted. That would keep Jeep from being too sissified but allow Chrysler to explore the unextreme end of the market.
