Inside Line Drives Nissan GT-R. 0-60 in 3.3secs... Truly dogs out Z06

Quote:
We know you want the numbers and we're not going to waste your time. Neither is Nissan. Its 2009 GT-R hits 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, quicker than the last Dodge Viper, Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo we tested. Keep your foot pinned, and after another tap on the upshift paddle it will clear the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at more than 120 mph."

"Our test was conducted on a fairly low-grip surface that produced lots of rear wheelspin before the GT-R's sophisticated all-wheel-drive system engaged the front wheels and it thundered down the track."
Quote:
It's even quicker than the Porsche 911 Turbo Tiptronic, but not by much. The German hits 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and blasts through the quarter-mile in 11.6 at 118.5 mph. Due to their lack of all-wheel drive, the Dodge Viper and Corvette Z06 are held back by traction limitations. Despite its 600-hp V10, the last Viper coupe we tested reached 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and finished the quarter-mile 11.8 at 125.3 mph. The Corvette Z06 isn't even close. Once impressive, its 4.1-second 0-60-mph run and 12-second quarter-mile at 121.8 mph are now well off the pace, which is why Chevy is creating the supercharged Corvette ZR1.

Re: Inside Line Drives Nissan GT-R. 0-60 in 3.3secs... Truly dogs out Z06

Now I've seen Z06s in the 3.4sec range... and the Standing 1/4-mile: 11.7 sec @ 125 mph still beats the GT-R.. which shows me that the advantage of AWD truly helps the GT-R in the take off... giving it the advantage to 60mph... but when will GM take the gloves off and get a re-test done of the 2007 Z06 which has a better suspension than the ones that were tested back in 2006 when the car debuted?

Whats the point? Owners have been doing their own testing.

^^^^ Wow, that's an amazing E/T.

But, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he red light on both occasions? LOL. I know, I know, launching a car like that with a manual is difficult.

I read Motor Trend's coverage of the GT-R. The technology Nissan packed into that machine is very, very impressive. The GT-R is not to be taken lightly by anyone. I just think it looks like a gaudy last-gen Celica. I can't get over it.

473 hp + 3800 lbs. does not add up to those kinds of acceleration numbers, not even close actually- is Nissan underestimating the power of this motor or what? BTW, if this were a GM product it would be lambasted for the engineering gaffes that led to it being such a fat pig.

I gues Nissan was stating the whp of the car, because this dyno shows that it's making 482 ps (475 hp) and 59.2 kg/m (428 ft-lbs) at the hubs. This translates into about 546 hp and 492 ft-lbs at the crank using a standard 15% drive line loss.

^^ Very impressive.

I can't wait for the head to head comparos. The GT-R sounds good, but how does it truly compare to the others in the class beyond power and acceleration?

4.1 to 0-60 seems low... i have seen other reviews that put the Z06 between 3.4 and 3.7! If im not mistaken, i thought the normal 'Vette could hit numbers like 4.1.

But it doesnt really matter.. i think the GT-R is the new standard for cheap supercars! This is still why i think GM should make an AWD Corvette! The Z06 should be AWD and the new ZR-1 should stay RWD.

I think I would still buy a 'Vette over a GT-R though.

What kind of tires? If I remember correctly, a lot of tests with the GTR have been with Nitto R-compound tires (Racing Tires).

Edmunds numbers are always low for all cars. Car and Dirver magazine has more aggressive numbers.

This is at hubs, not wheel, which is different. You need dynojet for that.

Then why is there number for the GT-R in direct contrast
Inside line never puts up good numbers for any acceleration times
they are usually 1/2 second slower on there 0-60 number than hte car
mags.
