Re: American Honda Posts 10th Consecutive Year of Record Sales in 2006

So much for minivans being dead-the Odyssey is Honda's third best selling vehicle, behind the obvious Civic and Accord (although the CR-V comes close and beat it in Dec).

All and all, they are treading water with a modest increase for the year. Thier main weakness seems to be Acura cars (not SUVs).

Honda, knows how to build great cars period. 10 consecutive years of growth in a mature, competitive market is a great result. All with building only 2 "trucks" in that time, Ridgeline and Odyssey. Thier motorcycles have a similiar track record.

LOL, the Fit probably went up a MILLION percent or something. Well, they didn't sell it in 2005 in USA, so you wouldn't get a number on that...

Re: Honda Up Again: Posts 10th Consecutive Year of Record Sales in 2006

record sales maybe, not really impressive.
there are ALOT of double-digit decreases in sales!

it seems all the Acura models sans TSX are having selling difficulties. (we'll wait on the MDX/RDX judgement)
too bad they killed the other strong seller, RSX.
this press release is more rosy than GM's and honda doesn't have a slew of new products coming out next year....

i forsee a slowdown.

TL, TSX, MDX, Element, Pilot and Accord are updated this year. The new CR-V just came out at the end of the year so the 2007 CR-V sales will be about 10k to 20k higher as well.

I have to disagree. 10 years of record sales is very impressive. It is hard to have that kind of sustained growth in our market. Almost all of it is due to cars, or car based products. Factor in relatively low incentives and it equals huge profits. Even Toyota had trucks to help with their sales numbers. I would love to see GM do that on the car side.

the MDX is MY07, the rest are 08. if they launch them late in the year like the CR-V, the numbers will to tight.

FWIW, Toyota also has fleet sales to help them with their numbers (about 10% last time I checked). Honda's numbers are all retail.
