Hi guys it has been awhile since my last encounter with VW testers ( three years to be exact) and I once again managed to run into a pair of VW testers. However this time I was outgunned (my main lense absent due to a communications snafu with 454) so I was forced to utilize the cell cam to get two good shots of these cars. I have absolutely no idea what they are nor do I have any clue as to what VW brand they are from (the rear logo is something i have not seen before) so if someone can identify these cars that'll be great
no, the Logo in question (my cell cams resolution is garbage) was a full on circle with what looked like to be a central full circle with lines going through it. I'll admit that the cam on my LG ENV 1 makes it a bit hard to see clearly but zoom in and you'll see what im getting at
I agree I think it is the next gen Jetta jcgable. I looked at a rendering just now and despite the inferiority of my cell cam the rear looks spot on with the rendering I saw so its a safe bet that these were testers for that car. i wish i had a better lense on me. Normally I'm a huge stickler when it comes to photo quality and I know these wouldn't sell very well aso i figured i'd do the next best thing
thanx hopefully i'll be reunited with my normal lense later today. 454 borrowed it to go to a classic car show last weekend (he's very talented at photographing muscle cars) but he forgot to give it back to me by mistake thus the use of the cell cam
most definitely is a Jetta...looks very similar to the current model...almost to similar. Looks pretty bland, Focus and Cruze need not worry much from a styling standpoint but I bet the interior will be top notch.
Nice catch. It looks more Jetta-sized and the side windows seem more in line with that of the current Jetta. The New Midsize Sedan should have a larger looking trunk (maybe you'll see one of those soon ).
I agree with you there. Other than the bold looking front end the rest of the car looked uninspiring and bland especially in the rear. For all the effort VW is putting into the Jettas new styling it seems as if it's a half baked one due to the fact that the rest of the car does not translate the fronts bold styling very well. However I do hope that the new Jettas interior will be top notch and I cannot wait to see the production version unveiled
I have to disagree with you there. the front end styling reeks of VW and there is a VW owned building in the area these were shot where they later fled to so it's a safe bet that this is a MK6 Jetta of some sort. It's not the Passat because it looks too small and same with their mysterious NMS model
Not a next gen Jetta - it's the US built midsize for 2011
Look at the platform size compared to the minvan in the first shot and how 4 full size doors don't overlap the wheel well in the second shot. It's a test mule for the US built midsize sedan for mid-2011 using some Jetta camoflage to confuse the casual observor.
I wonder why we are wasting space talking about VW....they have a horrible reliability record and are hell bent on capturing the number one spot for largest auto company in terms of size. Havent we seen this recently with Toyota? Look where it has gotten them. If you compare GM with other auto companies, GM appears to be on the right track, ie producing reliable cars that the public wants and not chasing to be the worlds biggest auto producer.
Was that a Chrysler support van? Would be interesting if it was because it might show a closer relationship between the two. The Caravan is used as a VW (all those idiots who pay thousands more for a re-badge just because they think they are superior). Probably they would have used the VW-badged van as a chase car...Maybe in the crazy global world of the auto industry, Chrysler can re-badge this vehicle for sale. Just a wild thought.
They're building a new US-spec sedan, a la Accord, in the new Chattanooga plant. Not sure if it's to be called a Passat, but it's to be more value oriented and probably more blah since Americans just love those Camrys. This looks like that car.
you know, within the last days, ford and a lot of other car-makers put different logos on their prototypes from other brands on as also as they invented logos that looked like a still knewn logo ...
And in your opinion of the Vento-Sketches, you must admit that every sketch MUST NOT been produced and look like in real, like created on computer ...
Otherwise: show me just ONE Ford-Logo that look like that one here?!
thanx and I got my normal lense back from 454 (again a unintentional mistake on his part) so things should be back to normal and hopefully they will come out of hiding again
cool never been to that brazilian site but thats pretty cool I might have to go and visit more often (after I buy a "brazilian language for dummies" book so I can understand half the text of course)
This link shows the sedan's side and rear view mirrors, which look quite similar to the model GMFan1111 took pictures of.
