GMI Spy Shots: Jeep Liberty Refresh by Kheiron
Fellow GMIers,
I was on my way to work today and took these photos while on I-75 Southbound. I am not sure if we have seen any, but here is some contributions to the GMI database. Enjoy and feel free to comment (the new Liberty has a Dodge Nitro/ Jeep Commander profile imho, but I love the updated headlights ![]() ![]() ![]() and I saved the best for last, (I apologize for the sub-par shots but lets just say I was "multitasking" ![]() ![]() *Please Do Not directly paste GMI/Kheiron images. Use a link to this page. Thank you* Last edited by TaHoE : 08-12-2006 at 02:01 PM. |

Re: Spy Shots: Jeep Liberty Refresh by Kheiron
Nice catch! I've never really been a fan of Jeep, especially the Liberty. This is a little boxier which isn't too bad. Still, the only Jeep I'd serisously consider is the Grand Cherokee SRT-8.

Re: Spy Shots: Jeep Liberty Refresh by Kheiron
Definately the Liberty.
The Jeep forums are lit up about the round lights setoff in squares. The new Liberty is supposed to be about 8" longer, more off road capable, and a little more Commander/Wrangler than cute ute. It's built off the Nitro chassis, but more off road capable and rugged. Expect a 3.9L V6 (230-250 horses) and a new 3.0L 215 horsepower diesel. Notice the spare is now under the rear bumper (Trailblazer style), this is not going to please the Jeep enthusiast. Its more prone to punctures this way (although the off road versions will be encased). The departure and breakover angles are worse than the Liberty, but it is higher off the ground. What I don't know, and want to know, is if it still uses the Wrangler style shifter 2-speed transfer case or if it has the "wimp wheel drive" from the Grand Cherokee or the roatary knob (electronic transfer case). Jeep fans: This WILL remind you of the old Cherokee when it debuts. Jeep pissed a lot of guys off with the Liberty, and now they are trying to get that market back. It's their bread and butter- and Nissan is eating it with their impressive Xterra.

Thats the new Liberty? It looks too much like the Nitro from Dodge (which is based off the same platform?)

Slap a GMI logo on those bad boys!!!! Those are some very good shots!
I'm not a big fan of where its headed. Igor, I think you can tell its not the Nitro because of the Jeep slotted grille. |

Re: Spy Shots: Jeep Liberty Refresh by Kheiron
I've sat in one!
(uncamoed of course!)Whoever said Nitro Body with Jeep Commander headlights and taillights, well you know.... I also got to see it in testing at Pilot, defiantly a nice vehicle. Jeep fans will like it. BTW as you can see in the shots, the camo tries to make it look like a Dodge Grille. The best camo job I saw was one that didn't have ANY camo on it (well they mocked it up to look like a Nitro, front clip swap and all). Or at least that's what I thought it was. I never asked the Engineer if that's what he did.... (He could have been testing a rumored SRT Nitro).

Re: GMI Spy Shots: Jeep Liberty Refresh by Kheiron
Are they trying to copy land rover for the most squarest designs?
Plus the big beady headlights are giving off a "HOLY *****" look.

Re: GMI Spy Shots: Jeep Liberty Refresh by Kheiron
looks ugly nad too boxy. Which is what all recent jeeps are looking like. The comander for example is so uninspired in design it's sad.
