Re: Ford Planning Massive White-Collar Layoffs

I wonder if Mullaly (sp?) will agree to make a few tens of millions less annually to help pitch in with this attempt to cut company overhead?

I would start with the marketing department and brand development managers. get rid of the lot and get fewer new ones with bonuses for performance.

I would clear out the MBAs.
Everyone knows that MBAs are pond scum.

Re: Ford Planning Massive White-Collar Layoffs

In the end , years down the road, all this will be seen as one big convoluted fire and rehire - later - and cheap .

Mean while some people will have bought Ford and GM stock real cheap.

Gas could fall to $2 if Congress acts, analysts say

Limiting speculation would push prices to fundamental level, lawmakers told

By Rex Nutting & Michael Kitchen, MarketWatch

Last update: 4:24 p.m. EDT June 23, 2008

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The price of retail gasoline could fall by half, to around $2 a gallon, within 30 days of passage of a law to limit

speculation in energy-futures markets, four energy analysts told Congress on Monday
.

Testifying to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Michael Masters of Masters Capital Management said that the price of oil would quickly

drop closer to its marginal cost of around $65 to $75 a barrel, about half the current $135.

Fadel Gheit of Oppenheimer & Co.,

Edward Krapels of Energy Security Analysis and

Roger Diwan of PFC Energy Consultants agreed with Masters' assessment at a hearing on proposed legislation to limit speculation in futures markets.

And let's go grab some Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean nationals, strip them of their passports and force them to work 16 hour days, pay them half of minimum wage, works for other manufacturers. After all we don't care what happens in the background as long as the company makes lots of money, we get out cars for cheap. More power to the companies, middle class America is so yesterday.

Re: Ford Planning Massive White-Collar Layoffs

Ford is seeking 15% salary cost reduction - there are other ways to do it .... layoffs are coming, but not as massive - hopefully.

Apparently that's true......last evening I saw a bumper sticker here in SoCal that read "Live Better, Work Union." This enlightened union supporter was driving a Toyota Camry. Nice.
