Ford executives on tour to improve image

Ford executives on tour to improve image
Ford Motor is dispatching senior executives to about 100 cities across the US in a drive to bolster the troubled carmaker's image among customers, dealers and local decision-makers.

About 30 Ford executives will make presentations to groups such as chambers of commerce, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs and city councils.

Dubbed the Acceleration Tour, the initiative takes its name from Ford's Way Forward Acceleration Plan unveiled in September, a toughened version of the Way Forward turnround strategy that the 103-year-old carmaker first outlined in January.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT, EXCELLENT PRODUCT, EXCELLENT PRODUCT.

With all those masters degrees from MIT and Haavahd, you'd think somebody...
OH, THAT'S THE PROBLEM.

EDIT: Honestly, folks, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this. If this is the state of "management" at Ford, they either need to clean house on the top floors or just close the doors. They are hopeless fools, clueless as to how to address their shortcomings, and doomed to certain failure.

I can't find the reference, but several years ago a high ranking Japanese exec or engineer drove 53,000 miles throughout the USA in the company minivan, asking average folks he met on the street what they wanted in a minivan and what they didn't like.
If some fool at Fo is going to send these yoyos out, THAT'S what they need to be doing.
This is nothing but a BS PR campaign. My advice: If you guys want to fool all the people all the time, run for con-gress.

Are they going to sing a small selection of Aretha Franklin's songs or what? Has Ford ever thought of actually MAKING better products to improve its image?

I guess, would something like this really improve the image though? Wouldn't working harder making better cars be smarter?

Re: Ford executives on tour to improve image

I read the article to say that Ford is going out into the word to chat up there products.

THIS IS NOT WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE

Ford needs to go out into this word to get the pulse of what is going on in
this world and then translate that into cars and trucks people want to own. But than isn't that what every manufacture of any product needs to do? Is this not first year business school material? IMO Ford needs to send there managers back to county community collage for some business classes

Ford owns part of Mazda & I believe they have the controlling share of the company too.

Re: Ford executives on tour to improve image

it would seem to me that instead of going on tour like rock stars, they should get their butts to work to fix atrocities like the photos i saw of the 08 focus interior garbage, or the horrible 08 escape interior. stuff that makes an Ion interior seem like a luxury car. Amazing how much Ford has lost its way.

Ranger, minivans, taurus, explorers, used to sell big. the market moved, ford did nothing to bring out products. and the stuff they do is so ludicrously haphazard in some respects.......cmon guys, get a clue.
