Fleet Deliveries Launch the Hyped Toyota Aurion

Fleet Deliveries Launch the Hyped Aurion

Hertz customers will be among the first in Australia to drive the much-anticipated V6 Toyota Aurion, which will enter the company’s core rental fleet from early December.
Hertz will offer two versions of the stylish new Australian made Aurion – Toyota’s V6 sedan – the entry level AT-X sedan and the Sportivo SX6.
Features include Toyota’s new fuel-efficient 3.5 litre dual VVTi V6 engine, inspired by Formula 1 motor racing, and among the best six cylinder fuel economy in its class.

“The Toyota Aurion is a significant addition to the large car segment of the Australian new vehicle market, and we are proud to be a launch customer,” said Wayne Burgoyne, Director of Sales and Marketing for Hertz Australia.
“This vehicle is designed not only for comfort and performance, but to deliver a level of fuel economy below what could be expected for a six cylinder car,” said Mr Burgoyne. “We are confident that the Aurion will be a very popular addition to our fleet.”
The Toyota Aurion offers a significant list of features for safety, comfort and efficiency, including vehicle stability and traction control, six airbags, Anti Skid Braking System (ABS), Electronic

Do you think he was going for "consumption?"

It looks like our Camry with the ugliness turned up even higher. Though, at least it doesn't look as much like a Mazda; and the emblem isn't as schnozy.

More on topic: I think rentals are a good way to introduce your new car to the buying public, and also to get fast feedback on potential issues, as the mileage racks up quickly on such vehicles.

To me it looks nicer than either the U.S. Camry or Avalon.

Fleet sales?? You mean Toyota is going to do the same thing that GM and Ford and Chrysler do to make money by selling to rental fleets? You don't say...

"fuel economy below..."

It's amazing the mistakes that can get through on a press release.

Re: Fleet Deliveries Launch the Hyped Toyota Aurion

The "fuel economy below" statement is for use with the L/Km (liters per kilometer) formula that much of the world uses. The fewer liters (litres) of fuel used per kilometer the better the economy, thus reaching for "low" fuel economy. This is in contrast to our M/G (miles per gallon) where we strive for "higher" fuel economy by travelling more miles per gallon of fuel.

That sucks ... I usually rent from Hertz everytime I go through Sydney. I almost always get a Territory. Hopefully, they won't try to give me one of these (otherwise, it may be time to visit Avis).

Yes, but it isn't surprising. The Avalon was crap, and the Camry only comes with a 4 cylinder engine.
