Edmunds On The Ford Fusion: Love At First Drive

Link: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=107412

For the first time in nearly two decades, Ford has a high-quality midsize sedan that can go toe-to-toe with the imports while maintaining a distinctly American style.

Re: Edmunds On The Ford Fusion: Love At First Drive

I've only seen good reviews of this car so far. I pretend not to like Ford, but I'd rather see them succeed at the expense of any imports. This is encouraging. Hopefully the car doesn't stumble out of the gate. Imagine where the Focus could be today if it had been top-quality right from the get-go.

MEH.

It's a nicely executed vehicle. I'd just like to see a manual with the V6. Until the 3.5L with a six-speed hits the scene, it's none-too compelling for me.

Also, stability control seems to be the new tech for this class, and the Fusion doesn't offer it. The Sonata, G6, Camry, and Accord (and likely others) at least offer it.

Probably would of took over the world They still sold millions of them

Stability control is for people that can't drive

They had a poll on th ford website awhile back asking what future options people would like, one was a 5 speed on the 6cyl

ha! edmunds cracks me up.

i feel like they aren't even actually looking at the car they are reviewing.

"chisled looks?" and what makes the mazada 6 sedan "impractical"? a mystery

fusion is a great car, i just can't stand edmunds.

Re: Edmunds On The Ford Fusion: Love At First Drive

I feel the styling was copied from the CTS, especially in the front end which is far too similar to the art and science look. This diminishes the "unique" look the CTS had in the market for the last 4 years.

I may be biased, but I still haven't seen any moderately-priced midsize sedans with the crispness and pizzazz of the G6. I still think the G6 has a much more attractive, sporty stance than any of its competitors, especially in coupe form.

It's too bad more mid-sizers don't come in coupe form. That body style has a certain sexiness about it that really draws attention.

The Mazda6 has a significantly smaller interior. I would know. I own one.

Works fine for me, as I don't use it as a "family" car, but the back seat is quite a bit smaller and hip room in front is a few inches less than the Fusion.

I don't see very much attractive about the G6 really, unless it's loaded. With it's cheapo ugly wheels unless u get the optional bling chrome ones. The cheap lower grill, Go MATTEL. The interior is ok but still looks kinda cheap. The coupe is nice but some lines suck.

I don't understand what looks so cheap about the G6 (other than the standard wheel covers). Overall, the car exudes a lot of quality, at least as well as the Camry. Quality aside, the overall profile and lines of the G6 are very attractive to someone seeking a sportier, bolder, more futuristic look. To people (kool?) who prefer a more conservative, vanilla flavour then perhaps the G6 is not for them. For me, if I had to drive a (mid-$) sedan (not likely), the G6 would almost certainly be the car for me.
