Only 203"? the concept was too squished looking; making it shorter will only make it worse.

That "fart burner" ads 5-10HP to your car ;some of those small Hondas can whip a Vett off the line. (from anti-rice.com)So 115hp+10hp=430hp, at least in ricerland |

Re: Edmunds: Chrysler Imperial May Arrive in 2011 On R-Class Platform
why will it be shorter??? it will share a platform with the next generation of a car that is currently 203 inches long... so for one, the R-class may grow, for another, 2 cars on the same platform need not be the same length... if you ever see a Nissan 350Z and the current Infiniti FX45 next to each other you'll see the range of sizes a good platform can have... a 104in wb sports car and a 112in wb SUV, all on one platform. i think DCX can make a 210-220in car from a 203in crossover.

Re: Edmunds: Chrysler Imperial May Arrive in 2011 On R-Class Platform
Perian: If you insist on making your own titles for a thread instead of the one that comes with the article, PLEASE do so tactfully. The article states the Imperial may arrive IN 2010, not 2011 as you put it. Small detail, but if you're reporting the news, that details are cardinal.
Anyway. Chrysler's march up-market seems like it'll continue. The Imperial is a smart move.

They ought to just name it the Dodge Aztek.

I am all for a Chrysler Imperial in the DCX line-up ... just not the one that they showed recently. Quite ugly.

They need to keep it true to the size of the concept. Either way, I thought it was a really cool concept and I liked the looks of it.

Saw more pictures and I think it's awful. Big and brash is one thing, but I see no fluidity to the design at all. Hope they tighten it a bit before they release it.

Re: Edmunds: Chrysler Imperial May Arrive in 2011 On R-Class Platform
The Imperial concept was a lot less-moving than recent studies. DCX has a habit of showing a "questionably" styled concept, but releasing a beautiful production-ready unit. For example, the Chrys 300. It was 1st shown as the Super8 Hemi, which was not a good looking concept, but the foundation of the concept was well received. The 300 & Magnum concepts were then released and they have sales success. The Imperial concept will most-likely look very different when it comes time to start production.
So looking at the Imperial now only says that DCX is planning to make a large near-ultra-luxury sedan using the very adaptable R-class architecture (which underpins the ML, RL, & GL). If used, the Imperial should be a very solid-feeling vehicle that should have people asking, "why M-B didn't make this themselves". |
