Dodge Challenger SRT8 available for $37,995

• The American muscle coupe is back, packed with modern technology and innovation

• 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 models feature 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8 and are available in Black, Silver or HEMI Orange

Auburn Hills, Mich. - Dodge announced pricing today for the modern interpretation of the American muscle coupe. The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8® will arrive in showrooms next spring at a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $37,995 (which includes $675 destination).

Due to unprecedented demand, Dodge dealers will begin taking orders on Dec. 3 for the limited-edition 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 models. Each will feature a numbered dash plaque and a 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8 engine. 2008 Challenger SRT8 models will be available in Black, Silver and HEMI Orange. $37,995??? Can anyone say GTO sales????

Ok, ok, -- maybe a little more sales than GTO because for some reason people like the way it looks. Personally, I think its an easy way out of designing a car. It's a friggen clone of the original for god sakes.

Once the Camaro debuts, I dont know how anyone will be buying this thing over it.

Wow.

Add a Lack Of Availability charge, and you've got yourself a 45-50k car.

Nice way to kill it, before it lives.

Re: Dodge reveals commercial, pricing for Dodge Challenger SRT8

As I said in the other thread, the Camaro should have similar power for under $30k.

$38k is pretty expensive for a pony car.

Remember this is the fully loaded SRT version. Wouldn't you expect an 2009 SS camaro to cost 37K. I mean, the 2002 SS Camaro came in at 32-35k. That was almost 6 years ago. I am sure they will have a 20k v6 version.

It doesn't really matter what it costs, the baby boomers are going to snatch these up real quick. If you have pent up demand since 1974, believe me, it's going to sell out. This first batch will be gone ASAP. I think when/if other models are made available the prices will fall more in line with the Mustang outside of the SRT-8. Have you guys seen what an original Challenger R/T with a 440 or Hemi are going for nowadays? Even if dealer mark-up resulted in a $50,000 tag, it's still a way cheaper option to get into some real Mopar muscle.

I don't think Dodge is expecting to sell the SRT8 version in record numbers. They are only making 1500 of them, and by the end of the December, I bet they all will be spoken for. The SRT8 version is a niche vehicle, the 2009 full lineup should do well.

When Honda came out with the S2000, they priced it in the $30,000 range. The first year they were out, you couldn't find one without a 30% dealer mark up. Didn't seem to affect sales any.

For the first adopters who absolutely want this car, $50K is a bargain. Everyone else will be willing to wait the extra six months it takes for the V6 and HEMI to hit the market.

That pricing is on par with all other SRT-8 models.

But isn't this going to be Dodge's only V8 version? Fully loaded or not, $38k will put it out of reach for most people. Now if they offer a ~375hp version for under $30k I'd be happy.

BTW, in 2002 the SS package for the Camaro was $4k. The base Z28 Camaro was $22k. So, one could get a Camaro SS for $26k.

Re: Dodge reveals commercial, pricing for Dodge Challenger SRT8

Well dodge is still beating the mustang pricing on the shelby 500. I think that might be what they are aiming for here since it is the only competition it will have for a year. Plus we have to remember this is their top of line car and people will say wait the viper is the top of the line well at 80k plus thats unreasonable. So top of the line car cheaper then a vette cheaper the a mustang shelby 500 6.1 hemi 425 horses sounds like a good deal. Remember the 2002 camaro ss when it came out 32k and that was 320 hp. Anyway you put it the challenger is a steal at 38K.

Shelby 500 45k Fully loaded
Challenger SRT8 38k

$38k will be no problem for the 1st 1500. I would bet many sell for closer to 45k by the time it hit the "used lot" with 4 miles on the od.
