Epic Fail for Toyota. The new Corolla is awful. My g/f just test drove a new Focus, Mazda 3, Civic and Corolla. She said the Corolla was the worst of the bunch and she ended up buying a Civic.

Can't believe that you bought into this disproven urban legend. What's up with the record sales? Curious isn't it?

I'm sure your gf got a great vehicle.

As for the new Corolla itself, it isn't exciting, but it isn't anything you'd call offensive to look at. Right now, I doubt I'd manage to get to test drive one, as I doubt there are any on dealer lots around here.

An interesting asides, we will shortly have two Toyota dealers in Newport News, as a new Toyota megastore is now well under construction. Does this mean that we will soon have Toyota dealers face the problems that Chevy dealers have to cope with, meaning too much competition?
Our friend will have to self-pleasure himself with post after post of unsubstantiated drivel while sales increase year after year.

I just posed a comment similar in another thread, that is my biggest issue with Toyota (and I have purchased Toyota's inthe past....a Camry and a 2001 Celica brand new, so I'm not anti-toyota). Its just I don't think you get much for your money anymore.

Toyota has a good reputation for quality...but I still don't consider it any better than any other non-luxury brand..but the prices they charge for what you get are now considerably higher than most others. A nicely equiped corolla for over $20k?? that is just out of line for me.

Lets do the exercise and see what it brings up. I think that we'd find that ALL the nicely equipped vehicles are right in the $20K range.

Base models: Corolla, Civic, Mazda3, Sentra, Elantra, Focus, Cobalt
Nicely equipped: You choose which features you'd like in them, same vehcles.

I think all the vehicles in this segment are at least acceptable. There are no real dogs IMO. After that it's just personal preference.
