Chrysler to show Akino concept at Tokyo motor show
Posted Date: 9/19/05

Chrysler has announced it will show its Akino concept at the upcoming Tokyo motor show in October. The vehicle is compact in size, but can fit a fifth person comfortably into vehicle, according to the automaker.

The vehicle is named after its interior and exterior designer Akino Tsuchiya (below), a 37-year-old born in Japan who is based at the DaimlerChrysler Pacifica Advanced Design Center in Carlsbad, Calif.

The selection of materials and colors used in the interior are composed of natural and recyclable synthetic fabrics, including: bamboo flooring, a throw rug, lighting sconce, mood lighting and even throw pillows.

The exterior features a unique side glass design and a specially coated rear glass texture designed to increase privacy and comfort for its passengers.

Honestly I think Torred could do a better job, even with a small car like that.

Considering the space restraints in some of the Asian markets, possibly a little of both.

Look... a Pier One designer interior! Damm though the front side window glass cut at the top is totally impractical. How in the hell do you get inside it without knocking your damm head off?

Re: Chrysler to show Akino concept at Tokyo motor show

Definitely an unconventional look. It manages to turn the latest Chrysler grille into a sort of smiley face. Of course, if they were serious about getting into building less expensive cars, perhaps they should have built this:

If they had, Plymouth might still be around, and you wouldn't see Chryslers in the 15k bracket.
