The story seemed to say that Challenger wouldn't 'impact negatively' on profits - but it's just this kind of car where you should be making money hand over fist.

If you can't make money on a $30G car, you are definitely doing something wrong.

Ouch.

The Challenger concept was shown at the same time as the Camaro, yet handsomely beat it to market. The redesigned Ram simply follows Chrysler's usual model cycle.

How is that out of touch?
Just step back and contemplate it: Chrysler's two leading cars for 2009 will be a full size pickup (this year, it features 390hp instead of last year's wimpy old 340!) and a V8 musclecar.

Most of the excuses for this excruciatingly bad timing are valid - yes there are long lead times, yes there are schedules to follow.

But it's still TERRIBLE timing.

LOL
No, Chrysler did not roll out the big guns this is one company that just does NOT get it. They did load their own gun though.

And I work for them

Re: Chrysler rolls out some big guns

The Journey is a sharp, clean looking design. I like the exterior a lot, but the interior is horrible. It looks like they designed it to sell it in both left and right hand markets, because the dash is identical on both sides, with the exception of the instrument binnacle on the left. It looks like it could be swapped onto the other side of the car very easily. I give the exterior an "A" and the interior a "D."

The Journey is a nice looking vehicle. The only car I would buy from Chrysler would be the Dodge Challenger.

I hope all these new radars are not something my V1 will think are coppers.

I am cheered otherwise by these new auto-pilot gadgets. It will be much easier for brain-dead drivers/aimers to read the paper, eat, pick their noses/arses, text, take videos, talk to people in back, etc. etc. rather than actually pay attention to the driver's Job #1.

Which would be driving.

At $5.70 a gallon right now, I'm not going to rush to my local Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealer to get this car, and I'm sure I'm far from alone. That's pretty much the only "something wrong" here.

I'm really a fan of the Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler Crossfire of yore. But that is about it. And for Ford..I like the Mustang, F-150, and perhaps the Fusion, if it weren't so vanilla.

I agree whole-heartedly!
The interiors of Chrysler/Dodge & Jeep all need significant upgrading.

They need to bring back the Neon w/a new design & redo the Caliber too & sell them both.

The front fascias of the Dodge Caliber, Avenger, Journey & Caravan all look terrible. Where is the aggressive look & design these models should have?? The plastic fascia grills need to go. Even from the Charger too!

Remember all those years that top Daimler management was talking down Chrysler? Well, its no wonder that these products don't have a lot of 'passion'.

Re: Chrysler rolls out some big guns

Anyone remember the AC/DC song "Big Gun?"

It keeps playing in my head after reading the title of this thread...

It would be a perfect song to blast while driving your Challenger.
