Commander, PT Cruiser, Aspen are all dead by 2010 for sure.
Compass should be killed as well.

Re: Chrysler May Axe Four More Models and Is $1B Short on Revenue
How is this still news? Chrysler has been talking about this for months now and rightfully so. Some of their products ie: PT Cruiser and Pacifica have been rotting on the vine for years. While others like the Magnum and soon to be released Challenger only appeals to a certain few. They have no compact car offerings in an era where gas prices are north of $3 and more crossovers and SUVs than any one company will ever need with another one on the way. IMO there are too many redundancies and disconnects in their product line-up as is and if they ever want to become profitable again there going to have to begin producing products that appeal to the masses ie Malibu, Aura, Fusion.

But, if nothing else, if you require more proof of it's value as news, then its worth noting that The Wall Street Journal, the Detroit Free Press, Reuters, etc. have all picked up the story today, which is why Chrysler media relations is busy trying to minimize the importance of it. You are correct in that its obviously been in the works, though - I suppose this is confirmation of sorts if indeed Landry's remarks turn out to be true. |
