This is why GM needs to add new variants to the GMC Canyon, Sierra and Yukon lineups with Scyclone and Denali Alpha or Denali Sport variants that offer uplevel power trains along with performance brake/suspensions.

Sierra Denali already has the Magnaride suspension and can say it provides a smooth/controlled ride for a truck but the current Sierra Denali sits too high for maximum cornering and needs to offer a lower ride height option or an air-adjustable one with to option to step up to the S/C 6.2L. Sierra should also offer a lower cost Scyclone variant that adds either the 6.2L with sport suspension or all out S/C 6.2L to SLE/SLT trims.

Same variants should be added to the Yukon line and both need to offer more uplevel options in the Denali Ultimate trims

Canyon Denali needs a similar variant using either a TT V6 or one of the Sierra Denali V8's with the magnaride and brake/suspension upgrades along with a lower cost Scyclone option for SLE/SLT trims.

No, it is not time to bring back the Escalade EXT, nor is it time to bring back the Blackwood. It is not time for Mercedes to make a pickup truck, and it certainly is not time for the company that gave us the 3.0CSL to make a truck.

Steve Jobs famously said "People don't know what they want until you show them." How about, instead of all these companies copying each other to create the next vehicular Blackberry, they create passionate, beautiful, efficient and insanely great cars (which the ATS, X4 and GLE coupe are not)?

There is something to be said for not following the crowd.

Though the idea of a BMW pickup truck does sound dirty and wrong to me initially, at least in the USA there is a huge truck market. We all said "dear god no" to the Germans going with crossovers and SUV's, but now no one bats an eye about a Porsche Macan (or however it is spelled). Why not? Denali and Ford's top of the line (King Ranch?) prove there is a market for luxury trucks. Though lessons have to be learned from the Lincoln Blackwood - don't make the bed so pretty you don't want to put anything in it.

Though be interesting to see how high $$ the market will tolerate and what the mix of performance vs. functionality the market will bear as well.

Each time there is a review of an American pick-up in Europe I see idiots writing comments as 'pick-ups are pieces of **** for dirty American stupid farmers'. Those idiots won't shut up, they will say now 'finally a pick-up done right'.

That, and it's not intended to be a luxury vehicle. It's a low-effort Nissan rebadge that's going to be sold through MB's commercial division. Realistically BMW doesn't (and won't) compete in this market. This is just someone from BMW Australia saying 'Yeah, yeah, utes are cool'.
