8-series has historically been a coupe.
CS is not a coupe.... thought I guess it can be considered a 4-door coupe.
In that case... it isn't really a flagship, but a CLS competitor.

So was the 3 Series.

From what I have read, BMW will aim higher than the CLS and target the Rapide, Panamera and Quattroporte.

It will ride on the N.G. 7 Series wheel base, not quite THE BMW flagship.

Oh yes, i know that, i read an interview with Chris Bangle, and he confirmed it! The CS is a go, but i dont know if it will be a flagship. Too bad i cant remember where i read that interview, but i thought that everybody knew that it will be built. I knew it even before the interview, but the hungarian woman especially asked about the CS also. His answer was sorta like he thinks he may say it, cuz it will go into production pretty soon. And he also confirmed the M1 successor. It was interesting to read that he considered the current (till the new 7 i guess) BMW design philosophy a dead end and he was talking about a new way!

That 0-60 time is pretty impressive for such a large car with a V6. The best times I've seen for the DI CTS are right around that...
