Re: BMW 7 is here!

I'm sure the build quality is great, but the interior designs never evolve. It looks unchanged from the 7 series interior from at least 10 years back.

Agreed. I've read the new pedestrian regulations have given the blunt/flat front fascia a new lease on life.

Overall, this seems like quite a step backward. Lets face it, BMW needed to break out of the constricting prison it had been locked in.

The Bangle thing marked a big improvement. This seems like a Lexus knock off (knock off of a Mercedes knockoff).

I wonder if people in this price category care much about styling - or more to the point, original styling. Judging by the sameness of styling in such a high end category (where you should be able to have a much wider choice, considering profit margins and low production) I guess they really don't.

Those screens for the rear seats look like they'll be at a more convenient height, for adults and definently for children.

Re: BMW 7 is here!

The screens are a bit large but I like the fact that it has internet, but it is EDGE so it will be insanely slow so that could cause some problems. I like the tail lamps better rather than the current random lines.

Horrid.... How on earth does Bangle still have a job?
Hey Chris, here's some inspiration:

And what's with the warted on entertainment system in the back? Why not integrate it into the headrests ala Buick? I mean, come on! Buick has them nicely integrated BMW for that price should have them nicely integrated. They're so bulky you'd think they were CRTs instead of LCDs.

It looks like a complete afterthought.

Can't find a picture of the Buick system that is dealer installable. It's in my brochure, but I can't find a picture on the net.
The monitors are too big for the headrest and they have internet access making the larger size adventageous.

Re: BMW 7 is here!

For a few years now I've watched Asian and German designs look more and more alike. They are meeting now and will soon be indistinguishable from each other apart from their grilles.

Aside from the grille, this could easily be a Lexus.

The interior seems almost untouched from the previous car, or at least unchanged. The IP is a confusing mass. If this were a Chrysler or a Buick, it would be loudly and repeatedly damned by the press. But it's a BMW so it's OK.

It looks class and decent, but not too thrilling to me. I do like the fact that they fixed the gaps in the truck to be tight and consistent with the rest of the body panels.

Re: BMW 7 is here!

The front interior looks very cheap, like the recent BMWs. However, I do like the rear doors. The front center stack is a mess, with shapes all over the place like other BMWs. There's no flow at all from vertical and horizontal pieces of the center stack. It looks like it's designed with a bench seat in mind.

The exterior is an improvement over ugliest sedan on the road, but it's still disjointed and dull. The real taillights are a joke. Overdone and cheap at the same time. The front nose is old time traditional BMW (ugly in IMO), so traditionalists will love it.

Re: BMW 7 is here!

Eventhough the MB S-class is older, I still would prefer that over this. Even the Lexus LS I would prefer over this. The styling is very boring, and thats sad because the 7-series is BMW's flagship car. I would've expected something more stylish.

The interior is getting old. Not to mention the same design is also in the 3-series, 5-series, and very similar to the 1-series.

Also, I'm as big a GM fan as anyone, but I think most of you are denegrating this vehicle by saying its boring (how do you figure that?) and such because you are frustrated that Cadillac can't or won't produce anything that could even hold this cars jockstrap in its class. A great looking 7+year old concept car doesn't cut it, not even close.
what are you smoking?
bmw could never make a car as nice looking as the 16, if the 16 came out now even though the concept is old it would still look better than bmw could ever do.
even a full size sedan with CTS styling would be better

A-Frackin-MEN. It's time Chris Bangle was fired and BMW's went back to looking like BMW's, when they looked good.

Speaking of which, would someone please get Cadillac on the phone with that STS/DTS replacement? A nice gap just opened up thanks to this major design faux pas (again how does Chris Bangle keep his job?) for a really good Cadillac sedan in this category.

When did gear shifters become joysticks? I think I could fire cruise missiles, use sidewiders and switch to guns from that thing.
