It looks good to me too.
If it's half as good as it looks, it certianly will do well for Mazda and be a very competitive product. Since it also resides on the Focus platform, it also makes me hopeful that next gen Focus will be just as good - and just as good looking - as this compact.

I like mine better. It's a very out going design.

I like it.. but im not sure about the huge smile. I think i would take a Cruze over this, especially if theres a Cruze SS!

Re: All-New Mazda3 Sedan to Debut at the 2008 LA Auto Show **First Official Photo**
They claim 2 engines for the US. A 2.0L and a 2.5L (pictured). I guess the 2.5L i4 replaces the old 2.3L like on other Ford products such as the Escape. There are 3 pictures here:
http://jalopnik.com/5060845/new-mazd...-auto-show-duh I suspect that this will continue to be the more sporty alternative in its class. The Cruze should soundly beat it on fuel economy, but I'd bet the 3 will be more fun--with the exception of a Cruze SS, should Chevy elect to build one. However, this means that Mazda's competitors will be smoother, better riding, all-around cars in exchange for the performance edge. If I were in the market, I'd definitely test drive the 3. EDIT: The 2.5 in the Escape makes 171 hp@6,000rpm & 171 lb.-ft. torque@4,500rpm, so I would expect similar here (it's probably not likely it would have one of the 2.5L i5 turbo engines from the Volvo S40 on this same platform, but who knows). Mazda's the only company that seems to know how to put together edgy, sporty looking small cars. If the driving is equal or better than the current 3, yowsers, that's a hard to beat car in its segment.
