Because it's the new trendy "in" thing to do. BS reason to buy a vehicle if you ask me, but what do I know?

When people tire of SUV's and crossovers and gas prices stay north of $4.00 per gallon, perhaps they will demand more wagons.
There are plenty of stylish ones available here in Europe.
It appears that GM will drop the ball yet once again, and leave the "Buick" Astra 5-door hatchback in Europe for the europeans to enjoy. What with flex ride, gas and diesel turbo fours, and great styling in a five passenger hatchback--apparently the chiefs at GM think it's just a little too nice a car to give to the home folks. I'm close to not caring anymore what GM does -- there are too many good things shaping up in asia, like 50 mpg at a reasonable price.

Re: Acura confirms Euro Honda Accord Tourer Coming as TSX Sport Wagon

Problem with wagons is that Gen X'ers grew up riding in wood paneled Country Squires and Estate Wagons. It's hard to break that image even if the new ones are infinitely more sporty. I never had a problem with wagons, I love the old ones, especially the glass roofed Vista Cruisers and Sportwagons, but I'm in the minority.

I would have said GM would be the last company to make a wagon. Then they did the CTS wagon. Shows what I know!
