Land Rover has taken the wraps off the latest refresh for its long running Freelander SUV. The new Freelander gets a freshened exterior with LED headlights, cleaner lines, and three new colors (Aintree Green, Havana and Mauritius Blue) as well as a new 17 inch alloy wheel design. Inside there is a new passive start system, a 7-inch touch screen for audio and navigation, and a 5-inch display for the instrument cluster.

I'm not feeling that interior. The combination shifter and fan knob placement is retarded. The S5 is in for service (low profile tires ) and they gave me an A4. It's a fun little car, but dear GOD it suffers the same poorly thought out center stack.

Maybe if I had baby hands I could easily use the HVAC controls while the car is in park. Unfortunately for the shifter and myself, I don't.

Besides, most of these cars are "set it and forget it" anwyays. Also, there might be a redundant control in the NAV screen.
I know, it's not an excuse, but there might be other options.

It looks too similar. It's a poor oversight, in my opinion. On both Audi and LR's part.

And I guess it's because it's a Land Rover, not a Range Rover, but is it just me or is this kind of bland? It's a nice color, but the dash is bland. It reminds me of the Challenger's barren dash for some reason.

I dig the clock, though. I'm upset Cadillac stopped that...

The A4 interior is horrendous.

I much prefer the Evoque interior to this which is still far too similar to the not notable in any way current interior.

A very nice and quality one, but quite bland and with little Land Rover about it. There is a fair bit of Mercedes lookalikeness in the knobs and switchgear department, and this could have just as well been an upscale Renault or whatever. The original Freelander was very unique inside and out, and it seemingly went up with quality but down on indentity from there...

Dont bother, its not a Cadillac, so he is going to furiously hump it like a terrier grabing a leg, never mind the teeeeeeny tiny nav screen and an air bag hub bigger than one from a 70's ACRS car.

That may be how you do vents but that's definitely NOT how you do LCDs. That's puny in this day and age, and what's worse is that the recessed placement with the bland plastic surround makes it look even smaller and incredibly cheap.

The seats appear to be covered with super nice leather, the rest of it looks like it could be the interior for the next Ford Econoline.

Looks like a nice update to me. Interior is really nice, but have to acree on the LCD screen comments that others have made.

Question: Awhile back I remember reading/posting that JLR N.A. was going to ditch LR2, LR4, etc and go back to actual names. I don't know if it was ever made official, but will this, now, officially reverting to the Freelander name for North America? Dear Lord, I hope so!

improvement yes...but there was A LOT to improve. the inside plastic quality doesn't look any better than the current. and the current is well...sad for a Land Rover badge..
