Re: 2012 Dodge Charger: First Look
Do also note that the Charger will NOT look exactly like the 1999 concept. Only that angle will be somehow similar, please have a look at the photo to see that the car retains its basic shape:

Re: 2012 Dodge Charger: First Look
I liked the Charger concept then, and I like it now. I hope the new Charger looks good. They have the whole American brand RWD sedan market to themselves.

Re: 2012 Dodge Charger: First Look
The slight changes in lines & proportions make the refreshed car look better in my eyes, no longer looking like it was designed by a grade schooler.

Re: 2012 Dodge Charger: First Look
Exactly my first thought. If you fill in the front grill throw a huge wing on, and we can blow away the competition in NASCAR. oops forgot everyone runs the same car now.

Re: 2012 Dodge Charger: First Look
Here is a rendering of the 2011 Charger by Jack Ratchett (real name??) at Allpar based on the image in the restructuring plan and speculation:
![]() However, the side panels of the above version look much wider than those in the "teaser" shot from the Chrysler-Fiat news conference. But, as always with Chrysler, it's one thing to show a pretty picture, but quite another to deliver a car that is well-executed and class-leading inside and out. Re: 2012 Dodge Charger: First Look
Oh yes, for history buffs, here is the 1999 Charger concept back in the "cab forward" heyday. The shape of the doors and side panels look similar to those in the "teaser" image:

Re: 2012 Dodge Charger: First Look
Stunningly beautiful. IMO, the picture released this week diverges from the white grainy picture. Weren't there rumors that Marchione ordered a redesign when he saw the original second-gen Charger, similar to what Lutz was rumored to have done with the original LaCrosse? Could the actual car be more curvaceous and 1999-like than what was originally planned? It looks that way to me, but pictures, especially taken at odd angles, can be deceiving. The dfferences between the White rendering and the picture from the press conference reminds me of the difference between the 1998 and 1999 Mustang.
