Re: 2010 Ford Mustang Spied!

Im very hopeful for the 2010 Mustang.

I think that the big problem with the current Mustang is that when it was shown off everyone was blown away with it being retro. However its kinda bland looking and after the newness of it went away people say a bland under powered V-6 with a solid rear axle.

Its going to have to look like a new and modern car while still look like a Mustang and the V-6 needs to pack some punch and it needs some good power.

Single exhaust. V6 model I imagine. Here's hoping (and expecting) it'll have a Duratec 35 or 37. But a '10 model? Is the '09 model year too close for the Mustang's upgrades?

If that's true then the Camaro might have a major problem. How long are the Camaro's looks going to stay fresh after it finally comes out since the concept's been flashed around for so long?

I haven't liked Mustang styling since 2005...I don't dig the retro thing

If it follows the Giuargio concept it would be nice...

Re: 2010 Ford Mustang Spied!

This is obviously the REAL threat to the Camaro... not the Challenger or Genesis coupe (though those two don't help either). GM fans love to say no, the Camaro will perfom better and look better and be cheaper... but the Mustang has a HUGE following thanks to over 50 years of continuity. It certainly has its weak points, but the Mustang is a legend every bit as strong as the Camaro (if not more so)... I'm sure GM is watching this next model closely.

Re: 2010 Ford Mustang Spied!

Oh, and for those that will say that there's no way to update a retro car... take a look at the original Mustang. It somehow morphed through many different bodystyles over the decades... it's easy to change a retro car,... you just, well, change it! Doesn't mean it will be as big of a success as the retro version... but it CAN be done.

True. I'm eagerly awaiting the Mustang II version.

Hard to discern much with all the camo.

All I can really do is comment on the camo itself. Nice camo, Ford.

Re: 2010 Ford Mustang Spied!

Not an all-new model. It's still based on the new SN197 architecture, but gets IRS, thanks to the Camaro and Challenger.

Base V6 will be the truck 3.7L DOHC... figure on 250-265hp or so. The 3V 4.6L SOHC dies after MY2009, and gets replaced by a 5.0L version. 3.5L Twin Turbo will also be available, probably in some sort of special edition. Top of the line engine for the GT500 will probably be some kind of twin turbo V8.

Mustang is all-new for MY2013, though. It will retain some suspension components and engineering principles, but will move to Ford's new global RWD platform
