2009 Dodge Ram uncovered

Earlier today I found an Autoblog article speculating if the above picture is that of the real 09 Ram. Now Autoblog confirms that it is, as it can be found on the company's official website. EDIT: It has now been taken off the website so the second link doesn't work. This is just more confirmation that the picture IS that of the 09 Ram, because Dodge was quick to take it down.

2009 Ram?

Found this on www.pickuptruck.com. Hope it's not a repost.

Is this the 2009 Dodge Ram 1500?

Autoblog has been tipped that the picture of the 2009 Dodge Ram first appeared on what looks to be a Chrysler owned website for Mopar Accessories, mopar-accessories.com.

As first found via DodgeTalk by the sharp eyed tipsters at Autoblog and Jalopnik.
It looks like cracks continue to expand in the 2009 Dodge Ram's information dam. We recently reported on online speculation about what's going on under the truck. Here's a potential look at its exterior.
This photo has been quickly circulating around discussion forums since last night (it didn't come from us because we don't have access to the embargoed press photos). It could be photoshopped, then again, this looks like the real deal - probably a beauty shot for next month's introduction during the 2008 North American International Auto Show.
Overall, it looks like next Dodge Ram has been influenced by the current Ford F-150's exterior design. The Ram in the photo still keeps its heritage 'big-rig' looks but it's chunkier than the 2008 Ram with F-150-ish proportions.
Other notable changes are highlighted in the picture below.

Some more reflecting on the shape of the 2009 Dodge Ram picture also makes clear how much design influence Toyota was able to pull from the Ram's (originally) revolutionary semi-tractor look for use in the current Tundra.
Whether or not this turns out to be the real deal, Dodge has little choice but to make the aerodynamic profile of the next Ram more slippery than the current truck, to help meet tougher CAFE regs. The same rules Toyota knew it had to meet when it was designing the Tundra.
It looks like Dodge is trying to reduce the Ram's frontal area by reducing the distance between the top of the hoodline and dropped shoulders of the headlights and fenders. There's still a clear distinction between those exterior components, but with smoother integration and softer boundaries.
The designers of the 1994 Dodge Ram should be applauded for creating a lasting front-end signature that continues to drive the appearance of other full size trucks today.

Re: 2009 Dodge Ram uncovered

Why did Dodge get Tundra envy? There is nothing good to say about the Tundra's styling besides it is modern looking.

I like it! MUCH more modern looking than the 900s.

I like the exterior. I never really liked the refresh Dodge gave the current Ram. Hopefully the interior isn't typical Dodge/Chrysler.

Umm.. what changed?

Seriously, I'm not knocking it. I like the Ram style, but it doesn't even look evolved.

Re: 2009 Dodge Ram uncovered

it seems more organic for some reason i cant put my finger on it but looks better. its definatly more evolution than anything else. keeps with the similar big truck looks. i dont see the tundra in it at all.

As for those who say it looks like a tundra, Toyota stole queues from Dodge. As i said Dodge is evolving their truck as Yoda is just stealing from others.

I'm being facetious. It looks to much like the last one.

+1, it looks like a revised front clip and thats it. I read the captions next to the picture but I don't see this making a dent in Fseries or 900's sales. Hopefully it steals a few from Tundra and gets position 3 back.

Agreed, it looks too similar to the old one. BTW they changed the pic on that website, so it must be real!
