2008 Mercedes MLK/GLK

A chop and photos are available at http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2006/11...s-glk-mlk.html

From what we’ve gathered, the production version of the GLK – MLK (call it what you want) will make its public debut in the September Frankfurt Motor Show but don’t be surprised if we see a near-to-production concept at the upcoming Detroit Show. Although details are scarce, the GLK – MLK will probably be available with a vast range of petrol an diesel engines that’ll include the upgraded 4cylinder 1.8 K with 184 Hp (as well the 143 Hp version), the 204Hp 2.5 V6, the 231 Hp 3.0 V6, the 272 Hp 3.5 V6, the 150 / 170 Hp 2.2 CDI, 190 / 224 Hp 3/0 CDI. Sales are expected to start in Europe late 2007 and in the US early 2008.

MLK might just be the worst name for a car ever. Nothing against Dr. King, but I always see "MiLK" when I read about the upcoming Mercedes.

Re: 2008 Mercedes MLK/GLK

well, WHERE IS THE BRX CADILLAC??? If they do debut this sometime next year, our GM timetable for the Brx should be expedited, I haven't seen any spyshots for it. But Kudos to MB (based on this chop) for keeping the theme in the family with the GL and ML which is another reason why i don't think it'll come here with that name, some other like NL or JL or something along those lines.

No offence but it has to be said in the commercial, Got MLK? Something I remember reading in a tread months back on Autoweek with Benz making a small luxo ute. It does look better than the Acura, but it still seems rather bland and unoriginal to.

Sorry Mercedes, but the styling looks too plain. I do wonder how the interior will look?

THe interior will probably be the same as the M, just smaller. Just like the GL, which is just super sized.

A MB of every size for every pocketbook. Great way to continue to kill the brand. Makes you want to buy another brand if you want a luxury car.

Re: 2008 Mercedes MLK/GLK

Is this supposed to be a competitor with the X3 and BRX? From what I see I think in can make great strides in that market, if Mercedes pulls it off right.
