Though content and passion in design have risen at the nissan garage, quality still seems to be lacking in many of their products. All that I have recently sat in had interior pieces that didnt quite line up and materials of poor quality too.

wow... they are really shooting at Toyota and Honda, and their truck lineup is a threat to everyone. if they had a regular cab full size pickup and a V6 option for it, they'd be a real contest for even the big three. (or big two.... Chrysler's not really American anymore, is it?) everyone better be on their toes, this rejuvenated Nissan lineup looks to be a killer.

I would agree the quailty of material at least on the inside of nissans is poor, very hard plastic's and it looks like a puzzle put together. This may be because when renault bought controlling interest in nissan they had to balance the books and save money where they could. The newer nissan's coming in the next couple of years will be mostly on french platforms and more french style, you can see it now in the current nissans but more is coming and the renaults in europe are very well put together. renault is doing a great job with nissan.

Regardless of their quality issues, GM could learn a few things from nissan. Namely, that the use of fewer engines and fewer platforms frees cash for updating products much more often, which is very important in todays fiercly competitive industry.

true, but not enough. For instance, why does the g6 need a 3.9L v-6 making 240 hp when gm already has a 3.6 that does 255hp. And yes I know that Cadillac's brand exclusivity counts for someting, but if people don't seem to care that the infiniti g-35 uses a maxima engine then they probably would not care if their cts shared its engine with a g6.

I agree with you guys GM should use the 3.6 more often. Using the LS2 more often would be cool too. Idea for GM: A RWD 3.6 blown/intercooled GTP would be sick.

ohh i see what you mean now
they should just have two engines 1 for the regular car v6
and a high hp v6 or v8 for a performance model

exactly, or at least very close. its something to think about. right now for instance, gm has probably 3 engines for one they need. The 2.8L, the 3800, and the 3.5l all make around 200 hp. The 3.6L, the supercharged 3800, and the upcoming 3.9L all make around 250.

Clearly, this is a sign of a company that still has not learned how to run as efficiently as it should in the modern car industry.

With all those changes, Nissan still hasn't fixed the ugly plastichrome "tuner" taillights on the Altima nor the bizarro interior of the Quest. Unfortunate.

And what does a "rollover sensor" do? I would think that if you roll over, you would know... ;-)

Well Nissan hired 200 engineers to fix the quality issues say Topix.com And even though they have had some problems with new models, GM never really had a quality car reputation. Im not dissing GM we have a 02 Impala(bros), a ) 03 Trailblazer(Dads) in our house hold. My mom drives an 00 Infiniti I30, with no problems, but my dads Trailblazer had a problem with the Piston in the 4.2 I-6....

If this is the same rollover sensor used in Volvos, then what it does is the gyro-sensors tell the airbags to deploy right before impact to the ground and also the pretensioners on every seatbelt.
