It's a bit easier to hide the extra cost of the the technology in the base price of a car that's VERY profitable for Porsche ....with most going out of the dealers in the high $80's.

the article says 20 and 30 HP, not percent! it's 345 hp and 385 hp. the 7 speed keeps the engine in a narrower rpm band - it's intent was to improve acceleration.

di alone does not increase horsepower itself. over 90% of fuel is burned in normal combustion - di will only increase that fractionally. you can be sure that porsche increased cam duration, and compression. compression alone aids efficiency. it's probably over 12:1 now.

an LS3 with larger cam and/or vvt, and di...i'd wager they'd get over 485 hp and 30 mpg hwy.

And how much power away from redline (aka torque) does the flat 6 make now? Let me know when it twists like the ls3.
