'07 Dodge Nitro spy pics w/ interior

Text by F. de Leeuw van Weenen 10-11-2005 Last week at the California Auto Show Dodge announced that their 5-passenger Dodge Nitro will go into production for the 2007 model year. And this week we caught an early production version of the Nitro on the road and it seems that only the side air-vents will change slightly. I garee. The interior in this thing is even worse than the interior of the Caliber, and that was bad enough!

The interior does look a bit cheap, but this is a prototype. I am sure materials and shapes will be massaged before the introduction.
I really like the exterior shape so far.

Why is Dodge taking cues from Hummer for interior design?
I don't like the big-chin bumper on the front, or the blacked out C pillar.

I'm not too fond of it myself, but it will sell big.
 DCX is the new Toyota in which just about everything it touches turns to gold - Just watch. GM and Ford better be looking in their rearview mirror because the Germans are right on their tail. |

The DCX trio will also - don't bet against any of them. DCX is already planning for a third shift at the plant. Sad thing is - Nothing for this market is near from GM (or Ford). And no, the HHR doesn't count - they are not going to dedicate another plant to increase production. |

I find it looks like the old power wagon (the front and rear fender flares), meets H3, meets Range Rover. I kinda like the look, but would rather have an H3.
And why go through the trouble of blacking out all of the emblems (steering wheel, wheels, etc) and not black out the HUGE Ram on the back. . .duh!!!

The exterior makes me think of a jacked-up and squared-off HHR.

i like the Nitro. the fenders scream Nissan but its stilll very cool. The interior looks pretty good...but thats a lot of plastic...geez a little bit of wood wouldn't hurt!!

Looks pretty spot on to the concept.....I am starting to like the fact companies concepts are pretty much making reality with little changes....
Overall...I think it looks good...should sell well
