I just thought that there were some of you who may not have seen this yet.

It looks alot like the last concept that was shown around recently.

Mitsu will be out of business within 5 years if things don't turn around soon.

Ah I've already seen these. I personally don't care for the massive over hangs. One cool thing is that the top model will supposedly come with a 270hp version of Mitsu's 3.8 liter V6. It seems Mitsu is attempting to position the Eclipse as its pony car. If thats the case, they better offer AWD. FWD just wont cut it.

My guess is that the base model will get the Lancer Ralliarts 162hp 4 cylinder, the mid-level model will get the current 200hp V6, with aforementioned 270hp 3.8 liter six powering the top model. That top model then could be a competitor to the 350z, Mustang GT, and whatever GM eventually comes with for the Camaro replacement.

wow... oneupmanship rules! i hadn't seen this pic... i don't think i was the only one. the whole point is to share info we come across... not slam people for coming across something you discovered a month ago. why didn't you post this back then?

this new eclipse continues the mitsubishi trend of sloping the windows way down in front. makes the rear look a little too thick. of course we can't really see much of the car, but the overall stance isn't too bad. wheelbase looks a little short (you're right darc requiem... overhangs are too long), and there's something funky going on with the trunk. a final hurrah for mitsubishi?

I'm just pointing out this article was originally posted at The Car Connection a month ago. While it may be mildly interesting for some, it's hardly "front page" news!

And furthermore... I wasn't slamming the original poster. I'm just surprised a GMI mod would put this on the front page. :argue:

Obviously I could read the date on the post, but I hadn't seen this posted here yet, and though it would be of interest.

I agree, the overhangs are far too long. The rear lid openend sideways on the concept, and they promised that would make it to production. My question is WHY??
Plus, this thing is just begging for some bigger wheels.

Mitsubishi has major design issues. The Eclipse concept looked freakish and these spy shots look just as bad. For Mitsu's sake I hope it turns out ok for them. The reason the original Eclipse was a hit was because it looked really good and they offered a decent model range from a 100HP 4-cyl to a AWD Turbo. They have moved away from that and slapped it with the ugly stick to add insult to injury. And what's with that ugly nose they are slapping on the front of most of their cars/trucks????

To be honest, I really like the design of the current Eclipse and the E-Concept. I would love the idea of the hybrid system on the concept at least an option in the top model.

At the present rate, Mitsu will be out of business before Isuzu.

I don't think Mitsu is going anywhere until after half into this decade.....they will still have to build vehicles for Dodge and Chrysler, which means they will still be making American profit, even though there cars are lagging in sales.
