Spied: 2009 Chevrolet Nubira (Is this Delta II?)

Quote:
The third generation Nubira has been caught testing at the Nurburgring recently. The prototype shows an all-new design with a rounder roofline. The C-pillar cues the Chrysler Sebring and the new design is more European than its predecessor. It is also designed under GM unlike its predecessor which was designed by Pininfarina. Headlights that cue the Epica mid-size sedan can be visible under the tapes. From what we can see, it also appears to have 4-wheel disc brakes. Sources say that GM will drop the Lacetti name in 2009 and rename all variants to Nubira. Head on over to WorldCarFans ro view more shots.

Re: Spied: 2009 Chevrolet Nubira

Oooooh the most exciting spy shot this year! Well for me, anyways. I hope they're hiding tons of WTCC Ultra DNA under tha camo, but I fear not...

What's cool is the first and second generations already had 4 wheel disc brakes, though I'm glad to see they were removed for cost cutting for this generation.

Do we know if this is on delta? Does the next shared Astra / Lacetti / Cobalt platform even exist yet, or will the next Astra be the first on it?

Re: Spied: 2009 Chevrolet Nubira

That's a nice looking roofline for a small car. They seemed to avoid the problem of looking too vertical that many small cars (such as the Nissan Sentra) have. I hope headroom is still good, especailly in the back seat.

Edit: Does worldcarfans.com want their copyrighted photo posted on other sites, even if it's not being hosted by them??

Re: Spied: 2009 Chevrolet Nubira

So the rumor was that the next Lacetti/Nubira would be on Delta II. Anyone see any Delta cues here? Minor, but I noticed the Cobalt SS has 5-lug wheels whereas all of the Forenzas/Lacettis/Optras have 4-lug wheels currently. The car in the spy shots has 5 lugs.

Hopefully GM won't call it a Nubira when they bring it to the US. Anyone remember pre-GM buyout Daewoos?

Like this death trap POS Nubira...

GM needs to call it something different to avoid any comparison or link to this old poorly designed garbage.

I sure hope it isn't. The current Cobalt looks so much better than this mule.

I think the side view mirrors look like an evelution of the current Cobalt's.

With all the tacked on bits and camo, how could anyone really tell if this MULE is going to look better than the out going Cobalt? To me the Cobalt looked long in the tooth from the day it was first introduced. Most likely due to the Old GM design philosophy of ,"Lets follow not lead, we sure wouldn't want to offend anyone." So they got the old Cavalier and a slutty Civic good and liquored up... and from this unholy union came the B@st@rd child they named Cobalt. Shameless really. I am Sooooo glad GM Brass has finally grown a set of brass ones (compared to the bb's they exhibited before) and is letting the designers do their thang!

Re: Spied: 2009 Chevrolet Nubira (Is this Delta II?)

I'm not very good at reading camoed cars, but it seems like there a lot of the new Malibu in the front end. I really like the current Cobalt as a coupe, but I think the sedan version has an awkward roofline in back. This prototype's roofline looks much better; but the C-pillar seems to have the tacky black plastic insert at the dog-leg (like the new Avenger), and those really bug me.
