Shanghai GM offers interest-free car loans

Chinese customers buying a Buick Excelle or Buick Regal sedan can get an interest-free loan with a 40 percent down payment. Here is a direct link: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1187...googlenews_wsj

It's amazing how different our country is compared to others in terms of financing. We can finance just about anything with nothing down at all, and in just about every other country you need at least 50%. It's crazy! I don't complain, but it would be interesting to see how America would live if we didn't have such leinient banks.

Not quite true, you can get a 100% auto loan here too, and our consumer finance market is far from what you'd call developed (I know something about it ).

Nobody knows where this 'subprime' implosion is going yet. We might well see significant changes to our lending policies across the board by the time this thing shakes out. Our economy would be much lest robust than it has been for the past several years if credit hadn't been so easy.
