I'd very much like to see GM build a version of this car with right hand drive for the UK, Australia, Japan and Korea. It might sell well in India, too.
The price is difference may owe to this: Korea uses a VAT. We charge taxes on income. If the U.S. rebates the "income" tax to the manufacturer, the World Trade Organization views that as a subsidy. If a coountry wishes to waive the VAT, however, the WTO has no problem with that. Thus, the Koreans are probably going to pay both U.S. and Korean taxes on the same car. Taxes and left hand drive = 400 units a year. Cheers, Ed |
