Re: July Sales Result in China

I wonder if the Buick Excelle sells so well because is simply is a cheap Buick. If you can't afford the Park Avenue...get an Excelle for much less and it's still a Buick! See I wonder if that is why it sells over a 100,000 of them.

If I understand this right, the Old Jetta is so far the best selling car in China? I might have misread something though..

Re: July Sales Result in China

I think it is so good to see GM doing so well somewhere, even if it isn't its home market. At least GM has taken a grasp at the 2nd largest automarket. But after a while, that could fade. This is because the older generations (that have hatred against Japan) are dying away.

Re: July Sales Result in China

If you could take a look in major Chinese cities you would see the number of Jetta taxis is mind boggling but a they are a porpular car because they look OK, do the job well, are comfortable and seem well built. I have seen some that looked bad from the outside (ie minor accident damage) but were still holding together well with few if any rattles. It is car that pobably deserves its reputation as a good vehicle for what it is used for.
I am starting to see a lot more Camry's on the road but i still havent seeen a Park Avenue yet. Still I have only been out of Shenzhen once recently so its no geat surprise.

What scares me most, is that Chery has sold 75,000 of their death traps this year.

I guess that is potentially 75,000 less Chinese people the Communist government has to feed.

The Park Ave sales are climbing, so much for it being a flop

Re: July Sales Result in China

I know it just came out so when I read the info about it being a flop I ignored it because it did not make sense. What did they expect for it to sell 100K in the first 4 months.....plus I heard it had supply issues to add to the mix.

Re: July Sales Result in China

GM is 2nd only to VW. This is good great. Though I do think Chevrolet needs to expand it's offerings. I see no reason why Chevrolet couldn't equal Buick sales in a few years. Without siphoning sales from Buick.

Can anyone tell me why there are no numbers for Cadillac or Opel.? I thought they were present in China too.

Re: July Sales Result in China

I think GM is currently beating VW, unless you mean the individual model "Old Jetta" outselling the Excelle. As much as this news is great, I'd like it more if some of the cool Buicks were sold here as well.

Re: July Sales Result in China

GM needs to do all it can to sell in asia. GM also needs to partner off China sales to US to avert destruction of our auto market from cheap sub human labor.
