GM India October sales grow 95 per cent
NEW DELHI: Carmaker GM India on Thursday reported a staggering 95 per cent increase in its vehicle sales during October at 6,139 units as against 3,153 units in the same month last year.
The company said sales in October are its highest ever in a single month in India. The sales included 1,769 units of MUV Chevrolet Tavera, 1,621 units of sedan and hatchback Chevrolet Aveo and UV-A, 436 units of premium sedan Chevrolet Optra and 2,313 units of small car Chevrolet Spark, GM said in a statement. During the January-October period, the company's sales grew 58 per cent to 48,367 units as against 30,686 units in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. "The sales figures this month clearly reflect the customer's confidence in the Chevrolet brand and the consistent growth in monthly sales is an indication of the success of all our carlines," GM India Vice-President P Balendran said. The company had last month announced a special price offer from October 12-22 on its small car Spark as part of the centennial Celebrations of its parent company GM Corp. As per the scheme, GM India was offering a flat discount of Rs 59,000 on the car. GM said the offer evoked an overwhelming response and the company received 12, 000 bookings for Spark during the 10-day period. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/...ow/2508957.cms var RN = new String (Math.random()); var RNS = RN.substring (2,11); b2 = ' '; if (doweshowbellyad==1) bellyad.innerHTML = b2; Huge increase although the number of sales is relatively small, it is still impressive.
