No wonder the oil supply can't keep up with demand!

I'd be curious to see how GM's (or Shanghai-GM's) growth rate compares to the rate of the overall market. I think I remembered reading that last year, it grew faster than the overall market, but this year, it's growing slower, which if true is not good.

Also, because Shanghai-GM is #3 year to date, does that indicate that GM is no longer the best seller in China? Plus, the top two are both VW joint ventures, so if those ALL count toward VW, they're kicking GM's butt.

The numbers dont make sense to me either. How can GM be China's largest automaker if the numbers dont add up? I wonder how many GM-Wulings count towards their claim as the biggest. I hear they sell a lot of them in China, but never see their sales numbers.

Yeah, that's weird. It's supposed to be the best selling vehicle in China, but it doesn't appear anywhere. I'm guessing but Wuling sells something like 500k of them every year; which is a lot.

Car manufacturers are all over China trying to sell as much as they can, meanwhile America has to stop driving so that more Chinese can.

I think it is a big misprent. Last year, it is my understanding that GM sold approx. 800,000 units. If GM grows 30% in 2007 they will up to about 1,040,000 units.

I don't really know anything about the Chinese market so this is just a guess, but maybe GM has a lot of smaller units (in addition to GM Shanghai), and they all add up to a large number, but this list only counts individual units.

Re: China's July car sales climb 37 pct yr-on-yr

How does China's 37% year-on-year growth rate compare to the US's annual growth rate on automobiles. Also, how does China's growth rate compare to other emerging nations such as India, Brazil, and South Africa?
