The BEAT Arrives. As the new Chevy Matiz Replacement.

"Chevrolet is gearing up for a complete overhaul of its model line-up starting next year, at the very bottom of its product folder – with an all-new, better-looking Matiz.

Autocar has been privy to an advanced viewing of Chevrolet's next city car, and can report that there's a world of difference between it and the rather vanilla, conservative styling of the current car."

We need one for the U.S. Just imagine owners saying, "We Got The Beat."

Naw, it's too wild looking. It looks like a Clown Car from a Tim Burton Circus.

Just shortening the exessively long headlamp assembly would help.

turbo or s/c it, send it to america, i might consider it. depends on how small we're talking. actually i'd probably get a compact car, not a mini or subcompact.

It's ugly, but I think most if not all of these tiny cars are ugly.

I like it but I wouldn't drive one, especially after gm puts on the undersized production wheels.

Great news! JUST what Chevy needs here and in other markets after years of lame-looking, tame, sub-par small cars.

Re: The BEAT Arrives. As the new Chevy Matiz Replacement.

LOL! When this was just a concept everyone was saying YES BUILD IT!! Then they say they are going to build it and then the bashing starts. LMAO! Anyway good for GM I think this is a very good move on their part.

Re: The BEAT Arrives. As the new Chevy Matiz Replacement.

The Matiz is the size of a Geo Metro (about 11 ft long), so the Beat can't be much bigger (if at all). I'd drive it, if it gets close to 50mpg.

Here's the old (current) one:

and the inside...

and the 'butt', which has Corvette-ish round tail lights.

I was beginning to think I was the only one who noticed this. Not only are GM's production wheels not tall enough, they are not back-spaced properly. Not even the base Corvette has a proper stance, as the wheels are tucked too far inside the wells. Of all GM's products, only the C6Z, Sky and Solstice have a good stance. The rest of their cars have so much gap above the wheels it looks as if a factory lift kit was installed.
