Upcoming Safety Recall 06160
Date: October 31, 2006 Subject: Upcoming Safety Recall 06160 Fuel Tank Adhesive Layer Models: 2007 Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala and Pontiac Grand Prix To: All Buick, Chevrolet and Pontiac Dealers Attention: Dealer Operator, General Manager, Sales Manager, Service Manager, Used Car Manager, Parts Manager and Warranty Administrator Based on information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, the media may report that General Motors will be announcing a safety recall involving certain 2007 Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala and Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles. Fifteen vehicles have a fuel tank that is missing the adhesive layer that bonds the barrier layer to the outer shell of the fuel tank. With this condition, fuel and/or fuel vapors could seep out between the layers. To correct this condition, dealers are to inspect the serial number on the fuel tank and replace the fuel tank if necessary. Approximately 1,600 vehicles need to be inspected and GM is working with the supplier to obtain the replacement fuel tanks as quickly as possible. Customer notification is scheduled to begin on November 13, 2006. GM Vehicle Inquiry System (GMVIS) information for this recall will not be available until the recall bulletin is released to dealers. END OF MESSAGE GM SERVICE AND PARTS OPERATIONS
