Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry for Transmission Problem
http://www.thecarconnection.com/Auto...73.A10341.html
The newest edition of the Toyota Camry is being recalled for a problem with the transmission. The problem, Toyota says, involved only a half-percent of Camrys built thus far for the 2007 model year. The new six-speed automatic transmission could lose second and sixth gear during operation. Toyota told Reuters the vehicle still will operate even if the gears are lost, and that the problem usually happens within the first 500 miles of use. Re: Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry
We all know if this was a GM car the press would be all over them. Toyota can do no wrong of course. I mean this is a minor issue, it only involves the transmission losing gears

Re: Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry
Oh enough. It's a 2007 model, of course it will have bugs in it. It's only 1/2 of a percent, not really that significant. I am all for having equal coverage, but sometimes this gets out of hand.

Re: Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry
Whatever. **************** happens. I guess everyone forgot that this is still a pretty good car in the process of denouncing the media "bias." I agree that the media does rag on GM way too much at times, but GM fans always pounce on even the slightest Toyota misstep. It's not a big problem. When that new V-6 catches on fire in 20% of Camrys, then we'll talk.

Re: Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry
at least they caught it early in the run, and recalled it right away, and of course there are gonna be some bugs in a first run vehicle. knowing gm they would have waited until it was out of hand to recall the car.

Re: Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry
Guys calm down, and stop hating on Toyota so much. Everyone makes mistakes/problems. It's only .5% of the not that many on the road...it'll be fine.
I've seen about 4 or 5 of these new Camrys around, they actually look pretty good in person, pics don't really justify it. I'm not one to really like Toyota (especially a Camry), but it's just a great car.

Re: Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry
Sorry for the off-topic...ness... But I just have a comment on the whole "**************** happens, quit whining" sentiment.
It's a recall thread announcing a problem with a Toyota. On top of this, the annoncement is being quite apollogetic it seems, at least compared to what such annoncements can be for other cars/brands. So, what do you really expect in such a thread? Are we all supposed to exclaim "It's ok, we forgive you Toyota!" in unison? I've seen much worse comments in non-Toyota recall threads and the masses don't exactly say stop the hate, it's not so bad.

Re: Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry
It's only half percent because youu can hardly get the new 2007 models. How many have you seen on the road? Seems like this problem would've been found i nproduct testing before hand. And why is it only half percent, how come the rest don't have the problem yet?

Re: Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry
I'm very pleased to read this. Sure, it wasn't 200,000 vehicles or anything, but any Toyota flaws are good news for non-Toyota fans. Doesn't mean Toyota will close tomorrow, but for every good news story about GM I like hearing a bad one about Toyota. With luck all of the owners who have this problem are 6th generation Toyota owners who have a neighbour with a tried, tested and true Impala with no transmission problems, and will trade their 6 minus 2 speed Toyota (hey, that's a 4-speed transmission!) in on a GM. I want GM to beat Toyota fair and square with high quality products, but Toyota flaws are A-okay with me too!

Re: Toyota Recalling 2007 Camry
Good to see Toyota recalling the cars eight odd months before their released.
I love how car model sold in the US are being named by the year comming, even if their released near a year before hand. They should be named by the year their released, not the year next. Its a marketing ploy. It make a car sound even newer than it really is. Their going to be selling the 2010 GTO in 2008 the way their going. |
