Recall: 2007 Toyota RAV4 Suffers Engine Problems

Toyota Australia Reels From Second Engine Blow

Ian Porter
29 October 2007
www.drive.com.au

Local car maker Toyota has suspended sales of another model because of an engine problem, with the new V6-powered RAV4 closely following the Aurion TRD to the medi-lab.

Sales of new RAV4 V6 have been halted while Toyota investigates a problem relating to the 3.5-litre engine.
Toyota has again been hit by an embarassing fault in a new model, with all Australian dealers being ordered to stop selling the new V6-powered RAV4 compact 4WD.

The RAV4 V6 launched only a fortnight ago to join the four-cylinder model launched in early 2006. A problem relating to the engine follows shortly after Toyota Australia's Aurion TRD resumed sales in October after an investigation into an engine failure.

Toyota Australia spokesperson Mike Breen says the RAV4's 3.5-litre V6, which is shared with the Aurion, Kluger, and Tarago, is not operating "as smoothly as would be expected", and there appears to be an issue with the engine's electronic managment control system.

Re: Recall: 2007 Toyota RAV4 Suffering Engine Problem

I remember 2004 being a rough year for GM in the recall department, but at least they spread them out a little! Toyota has been hit with recall after recall, all in a very short time frame. Add to that all the press (Consumer Reports, etc), and all of a sudden, that big shiny "T" is starting to look a bit tarnished.

Am I gloating? Damn right! It's nice to see the evil empire on the defensive.

Re: Recall: 2007 Toyota RAV4 Suffering Engine Problem

I'm sure the many Toy apologists will have some spin to put on this. If GM was going through this it would be the leading item on the major cable news channels. But I love it. Is this what Toy refers to as "moving forward"?

It's not a safety issue if the car doesn't run.

But it does seem to be issue after issue for Toyota. I guess Toyota wanted to be GM so bad they got all of GM's karma. Must be a bummer in Toyota-land.

Somebody at Toyota is probably contemplating suicide right now.

Toyota may not be able to, but all the domestic haters will have no problem saying it for them.

Wow, sometimes I think I'm dreaming and I'll wake up and these Toyota recalls would have just been a dream.

I wonder how long it will take before the Toyota reputation takes a serious hit?

Then when you tell them all about Toyota's recent problems they will tell you how GM or Ford made crap 20-30 years ago.
