Notice of Delphi Safety Recall of Fuel Pumps

Date: April 12, 2007

Subject: Notice of Delphi Safety Recall of Fuel Pumps
ACDelco part numbers MU55 and MU269;
GM Part Numbers 25168924 and 25330970

To: All Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, and Pontiac Dealers

Attention: General Manager, Sales Manager, Service Managers, Parts Manager and
Warranty Manager

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

GM Service and Parts Operations' supplier, Delphi, has determined that a defect which affects motor vehicle safety exists in certain fuel modules shipped 24Oct2006 thru 02Feb2007. As a result, Delphi is conducting a safety recall.

The suspect service fuel pumps are sold for use in 1996-1998 Pontiac Grand Am, Pontiac Sunfire, Chevrolet Cavalier, Oldsmobile Achieva and Buick Skylark.

(NOTE: This recall only pertains to service fuel pump modules and has no application to GM factory-installed fuel pump module))

The root cause of the non-conformance is associated with the incorrect assembly of the fuel return and vent tube. The two tube positions were switched when assembled by a supplier of Delphi. The following two scenarios can result from the use of a non-conforming pump module:

· The vehicle will not run correctly (idle rough and/or stall) due to an overly rich fuel blend.
· The vehicle's evaporative emission carbon canister may leak fuel.

Please check your inventory of part numbers - 25168924 and 25330970. If the parts have a label date code between 06297 and 07033 – they should be treated as suspect.

See the attached Delphi document which explains what you should do to notify your customers who may have purchased the recalled parts. The document also explains how you and your customers can return recalled parts and obtain reimbursement.

If you have questions regarding the conformance of stock or consumer reimbursement, please call Delphi customer service at mmm-mmm-mmmm.

GMSPO inventory is verified as good and may be ordered for replenishment.
